If you really care about livestock then lobby you MP to get meat imports stopped. Most utilise methods that were banned in UK long ago and quite rightly too.

If we all made an effort to support British farming then much animal suffering would be prevented.

I thought the same about veal as you, but a farmer put me straight on this. Either we eat UK veal or the veal calfs go abroad potentially to the conditions you describe.

Way ahead of you - he has stopped replying to my letters....

Sadly he is a member of the party that doesn't give a stuff about the countryside, or the welfare of it's inhabitants - both human and animal, so it doesn't figure high on his list of priorities.

I have already caused enough problems for the mods, so I am not going to continue replying to this thread.

My apologies to anyone I have offended.
