We are looking to spin glass tubes in a lathe for the purpose of fire glazing them. The tubes will be between 1/2 inch and 1 and 1/2 inch diameter and max 2 feet long. Do we need a glass blowers lathe or can we use some other type of lathe? Will be using a separate burner set for the flame.

Thats about as specialist as you can get. Find a glass blowing company online and ask for quotes.

You would also need some way of holding the glass tubes on the lathe and, as you want to direct a flame at them, it would need to be able to withstand that as well. Unless you have hundreds of them to do then the costs will outway the practicality of it.
