Shutters revisited

I want to make some interior solid panel shutters using mdf for the panel and painting the lot to suit the room.

What would be a suitably inexpensive but stable solution for the frame - say 3/4x1?

It seems to me that the stuff Wickes and Co throw out wood warp in seconds. Maybe I could use some old floorboards I have handy, filled and ripped to size! Hmmmmm

Thanks JFC. Did you cut the rails to size or buy them ready as 75mm? And what thickness mdf did you use? MDF Fixings?

I rip a sheet of 18mm down so i have 75mm rips and then run them through my door making profile cutters .

I think i used butt hinges for these ones and predrilled the screw holes first .
