For a while now I've needed a shooting board. I've been rather busy with DIY outside for the past few months. So that's been on a bit of a back burner. Even tho Berncarpenter kindly loaned me his router plane a few weeks ago, I've still not found the time. Until this weekend, when a poor weather forecast and a dodgy shoulder have meant I'm not able to head outside. I had some nice birch ply offcuts from Bern to make this with, so I decided to make a test one first, so I could get any really dumb mistakes out of the way. The test one was from a piece of scrap ply and pine.
Can you see where I went wrong here?
Gluing the test one up.
The finished test board:
It actually works really quite well. I've not posted the pics, but a rough test cut and plane went really well. Starting on the 'proper' one.
Clearing out the grooves with my paring chisel and Bern's plane.
I'm gluing it up at the moment, I'll post later on when that's done.
