I recall a Aussie pal of mine commenting about the UK TV advertising campaign for "Castlemaine 4X" (IIRC ?) referring to it as Australia's favourite beer (or something along those lines).

He said he'd never heard of it...
I did say we made some bad ones. That's one of the worst. Poor bloke was likely too ashamed to say otherwise.

John

Talking of beers, did any of you see that trending item that uk beer is getting weaker.
Though I am not a beer drinker, makes me cross for those that do
I know how I’d feel if someone said
We will water your whisky down and the charge you more

American "beer" is an insult to the word beer - for the most part it's weak and fizzy - I'm thinking of Bud Light!
There are good US beers. How widespread they are I wouldn't know. Their mass produced p*ss is no worse than our mass produced p*ss I.E Carling. Proper English ale is the bomb in my opinion

Plenty of good beer is brewed here in the USA. The small brewers just don't have the marketing budget of the InBevs of the world. There is also a nice market here for malted grains and niche hops that allows for wonderful home brews to be made. My son in law and I make many different types of ales that seem to keep our friends happy and our thirst quenched. It's not all colored water of the Bud, Miller, Coors lite variety here.

I remember one of my brothers in law buying some beer in The Ozarks about 20 years ago. It was Bud Premium Lite or some such name. I think it had been conceived by a homeopathist.
