With reference to the cable trunking you intend to lay, I strongly recommend using 100mm, I use it on my industrial estate, and we run armour cables etc up it to power other units etc, our longest run is 150m and that works fine with a drawrope.

We also run cat5e cable for ethernet, low voltage for cctv etc.

I will be adding this little 'upgrade' to my new workshop build.

Also one VERY important note - take it from my experience - you MUST seal each end of your trunking to be vermin proof. I had rats running through mine, munching my cctv feed wires in the process, was a very costly and time consuming task to replace. The easiest way is to stuff something in there or, as i have done build a small wooden box with a door in which to terminate te trunking in, keeps things dry and the blooming rats and mice out!

Steel wool seems to be the weapon of choice.

If you are going to lay 100mm pipe I would certainly agree that you want to lay a bunch of other things at the same time. I would probably draw through four pieces of Cat 5 as it's good for a load of low voltage applications as well as ethernet and it's pretty cheap. I'd certainly consider water but then you have to think about getting waste water away.

thanks all. i will ask my leccy to advise where to bring the swa to. yeah i will cap any ducts, i did the same when i laid my water main.

i dont think i want net in the shed but you're all right about cat cable, its easier to do it now just in case.
