Hi. Can you make a woodturning skew from woodturning scraper?
I know that i can grind it, but will it work properly?

Sorry for my bad english :)

Hi Valcia 25,

Welcome.
I can't see a reason why you can't convert a scraper into a skew chisel.
Others may have a different opinion, we shall see.
When re-grinding take care not to overheat the scraper.

No need to apologise for your English - its perfect.

No problem at all converting a flat scraper into a skew.

If it's HSS it will take some time and a bit of your grinding wheel life, bluing of metal not too critical (HSS will cut at red heat) but don't be tempted to quench cool it when getting near fine cutting edge region as shock cooling of HSS can cause micro cracking of thin stock.

If it's older carbon steel then do not get it hot enough to produce any colour on the steel else you will have to re-harden and temper to get the correct hardness back.

No problem cooling Carbon steel in water whilst grinding, just do it little and often so that it does not take on a colour.

Good guide when grinding steel, if it's too warm to touch stop and cool.

The best way to do it is to first cut the end off to the shape of a skew with an angle grinder with a diamond wheel then grind an edge on the steel with your grinder

It's HSS scraper from axminster. I will try and see what happens. Thank you for fast response.
