Lets face some facts. The US is at the heart of this
But that is not a fact.

The US is not at the heart of the Ukraine war, it’s Putin, he invaded because he is a brutal imperialist dictator

but I feel that question is far deeper and isnt going to be reached by hitting google and using the top of the list as the reasons
You are correct, which is why my answer is not based on that.

I think the truth of the matter is most just want to be left alone to get on with things and do not want to become political pawns of any country
Yes, the research I’ve done very much supports this.

The people of Donbas + Crimea by and large just wanted their lives to improve, they want what we all want.

Interesting... I didn't read all the comments, but one person was doubting that Putin's voice could be AI generated without massive amounts of training material. I might have agreed, if I hadn't happened to have caught part of a programme on Radio 4(I know, I know...) this morning. Seems it's all moved on a bit quickly!
My voice is my password.

But Tony, that is literally you

Please read your own posts, you might realise you are the worst example of what you accuse others of
In my world which is the real world, EVERYONE is allowed to have an opinion. I may or may not agree with them but allow them to have their opinions. Unfortunately when dealing with fringe elements on such as this forum, there is no room for anyone having a different opinion/perspective to their politically biased and ideologically driven opinions. Their opinion is absolute and no other opinion will be tolerated.

If I don't agree with some of the nonsense that has been written on here then I make it clear but I am not intolerant so that is the primary difference between myself and ideologists like yourself.
The other difference is that unlike most of the fringe elements on here, I don't have any political bias. I may treat many of the rantings of the left on here as nonsense but that doesn't mean that I'm a right winger. I've just learned over the years to ignore nonsense irrespective of whether it comes from the mouths of Tories, Lib-Dems, Socialists or even the far right.

Just looking at the hysteria and yes it is hysteria surrounding Trumps triumph in the American elections on this forum it's like feeding time at the local piranha pond.
Quite frankly it really beggars belief when back here at home we have a bunch of intolerant political incompetents who it seems are determined to destroy the UK's business competitiveness and even create mass unemployment all for the sake of a flawed ideology.
Before criticising the leaders of other nations and the people who vote for them, I'd argue you should address the problems closer to home.

You said Macedonia. I remember that because I thought at the time it was notably adjacent to Bulgaria (home of many sub-contract

Yes, I misrecalled initially, but it was Macedonia. Why do you Putinists flock together?
You really are getting to be very odd now. Is this some desperate attempt to force me into being an eastern bloc, ex-communist, anti-imperialist running dog? Or do you actually want me to dox myself in support of reality? Or is this just confirmation that your "belief" triumphs over reality at all times?

You may or may not know that Macedonia is prefecture in Northern Greece, and I have travelled around quite a lot of it, about 20 years ago. I dont live there, because it's too cold in the winter, but i have been there. Northern Macedonia, or the Former Yougoslav Republic of Macedonia is further north, it's own country, and somewhere i have seen only from the Greek side of the border. Does that count? So sorry that reality doesn't tie in with your pronouncements. I live in Greece. Have lived in Greece since 2004 (actually a number of years before that, but I've been a property owner since then).

I still hold a British passport, as I was born and raised in Cornwall - which is a lot like your average ex-comunist bloc, bleak, authoritarian hell-hole, but with extra sheep.

I am baffled as to why any of this matters, but then to my mind, it doesn't. I'm in the middle of my olive harvest (live in Greece, remember?) and I'm currently putting in 14 to 16 hour days. I don't have time to meticulously research every link and engage in glorious Internet wars to confirm my superiority over the Internet- I am currently drinking coffee, waiting for the sun to come up so i can go and feed my animals and get on with my day. I hope you have fun today, too.

Last time I was in the UK I was struck by how abjectly miserable everyone was. No one is having any fun. Even this odd website reflect this - more angry ,more confrontational, less charitable. Perhaps it's time to reevaluate priorities?

Anyhoo, as they say in Canada, i can now see outside, so time to release chickens and geese and turkeys for the day, and then I will climb an extensive number of trees with a chainsaw, because I do know how to have fun!

Best wishes from Skopje (oops!)

My profile tells you exactly where I am. The location is stated quite clearly at the bottom of my avatar, on every post. Back in the day I even posted photos of my house.

And yes, I am only two border crossings from the U,raine, hence my desire to work out what is actually going on.
Two border crossings from Greece will put you in Romania, not Ukraine....are you sure you know where you are?

In my world which is the real world, EVERYONE is allowed to have an opinion
Tony please let me give you some advice, which will help you:

In future please try making your posts about facts, evidence, data….backed up with links from authoritative sources

Unfortunately for you, every post you make is based on emotion, not facts.

If you stuck to facts, you would broaden your knowledge and challenge your biases.

Enjoy
