If interested I have a large selection of mountain scenery photographs which I can post in nothing todo with woodwork.

interesting pictures of the first post war porsche 356, you know
the famous james dean car.

however what is of more interest is that the older ferrari's and other
italian cars which were hand built are in fact almost ALL not symmetrical.

since they were hand built on a similar kind of "buck", they were almost
never the same on both sides. restorers of italian stallions know this to be
true, and makes the cars interesting to re-build.

kind of makes a nonsense of being accurate

Yup, Porsche 365. The car Jimmy Dean was killed in was the 550 Spyder I think, similar in shape to Dev's last picture, although I think it's just a regular 365 Spyder

Noel

whoops you're right noel, but then the 550 was a modified 356
before porsche got serious about racing and made silly things
like the 917.

who'd have thought that the guy who designed the vw, and
the panzer tank, plus the auto union v16 could cause a four cylinder
flat engine to go so fast and be so scary.

the 550 made scary sharp seem almost low key

attached photograph is of a volkeswagon beetle chassis with I beleive a porsche early type engine fitted.

In the background is the same beetle chassis and cabin/saloon fitted.

If interest is shown I can show a few more pics of porsche engines and cutaways etc.

Dr Porsche (and his son) was an amazing man. Rather liked the 917(k), 240 mph down the old Mulsanne straight was no mean feat at the time and showing Enzo and his 512Ps the way home
But for me the only proper Porsche (road going) was the air cooled 911 series, which of course, was directly decended from the 365 and the "people's wagon".
Yes Dev, more pictures would be good.
I'll move this thread to OT later on today.

Noel, dreaming...

Thanks for the Pics. I used to have a 968 in garnet red. I was 24 when i bought it, I saved up and paid cash!... I met my now, better half driving that car :?

She pointed out that we couldn't live in the Porsche. So I've not got a 3 bedroom semi, Dog, 2 kids, 3 horses........ :(
And a crappy Peugeot Estate. Of course she's got a brand new car, which I pay for....

Ahhh...happy days

Ah but Lee, you do have a nice bike if your avatar is anything to go by!

Yes, thats true. The Porsche was nice, but they are no match for even the most modest road bike. I've always had bikes. Couldn't ever be without one, its in me blood :D

Nothing like getting out for a blast as the sun comes up on a Summers day. No phones, emails, faxes, chores......

Looks like a Suzuki SV650 ?

I ride a Fazer 600, looks like I need to change my avatar as there are several of bikes now!

Steve.

Steve - its a Honda VTR1000. Stage 1 Tune, High level Titanium Pipes, 108.52 BHP at the rear wheel.

There is a video of it on the Dyno at Revolution racing a couple of weeks ago.

I did briefly have a Fazer and before that an FZR600. Both Nice Bikes.

Cheers
Lee.

Oops  Bit faster than an SV650 then :D

Just out of curiosity do you take it on a track often? I have often wondered whether to do a track day, but since I do 700 miles a week commuting I have very little desire to do more at the weekend, although friends tell me I should as they are good fun.

Steve.
