I am at present getting a flat ready for the rental market and think that I should install a washing machine.

The only place this can logically go is under the work top next to the electric cooker, are there perchance any regulations regarding distances between the two appliances?

Not that i am aware of. One thing to watch is the drain pipe size and arrangement so as to not allow any syphoning

The only thing to think about is where you are going to feed the mains to it from? An existing socket? If not Part P raises its' ugly head.

Also if it is a built-in or built-under model then you may not have enough front to back space for all the utility pipes at the back. Probably not a problem if you're not going to fit a matching door to the front of the washing machine.

It will go under the work top and its the compact type that is only 50cm wide and 50cm deep so plenty of space for pipes etc.
As to the electrical feed there is a socket in the larder which is the other side of the cocker, thats where I'll run the feed to.

I don't believe there are any regs to stop you from putting a w/m next to the cooker. I asked a similair question (regarding proximity of electrical sockets to a kitchen sink) a good while ago, and the advice was that there were no regs.

HTH.

Cheers
