I sent a post card to America today. It cost £2.80.

Given that you appear to be based in at least two countries..may I ask where you sent it from..as that gives a better guide to the relative cost of sending a post card to the USA

i just looked up the rate of "la poste" ..they don't give a postcard rate..in France post cards are supposed to be sent in an envelope..si..si..c'est la France.

You are now supposed to send them via electronic mail..you write it on their website..where you pay them ..via credit card..they print it out and they send it as carton or paper for you..si..si..c'est la France.

or you can go to their website..pay them..and then print out your own stamp at home..si ..si..c'est la France..

Or..you can go to a post office ( they are closing them down as fast as they can ) ..hope it is open..they are open only a couple of hours a day..and sometimes they are shut with no reason given..deal with the interminable queues and the pit bull behind the counter..who will sell you a stamp..with much bad grace..and try to tell you to do it on line..

Cost ..€2.10 .."letter rate" upto 20 grm
heaven help you if they decide to think it is a slim ( less than 3cm thick packet ) because if so..cost is €29.50 up to 100 grm

This is why I do not ship outside of France.

I live in the U.K. but travel a lot. I’ll be in Germany all next week, Romania a couple weeks after that, then Maderia. Was in India a couple months back and US immediately before Christmas. Up until two years ago I was doing two weeks in U.K. then Two weeks in either the US or China. My environmental credentials suck…

My environmental credentials suck…

But then they probably always did, as if I remember correctly, you run a landrover ( as did I many models for many years ..tinkerers paradise on wheels )..apart from the one early model SWB (originally built in 58 I think ) I 'd "restored" with a BMC 2250 diesel block ( old Black cab and Sherpa lump ) which gave incredible mileage, but slooooooooow.
