Can't make a lot of progress with this programme, don't have a manual, and I'd really appreciate some assistance.

I've scanned some old group photos, and I've been trying to crop one person out of a group, then save that image as an individual photo (it's genealogical research, by the way). When I Crop, then Save As, all I save is the entire group again.

Can someone please explain what I'm not doing correctly?

Getting disheartened,

John

Hi John
go to your selection tool (two below the crop tool). Select the person by holding down the left button on your mouse and dragging the box around them. Press Ctrl + C to copy your selection then Ctrl + V to paste it as a new image.
I hope this helps.

I have my manuals packed away ready for the my move on monday
If no-one can help you I will unpack them early next week failing that I think I have a spare manual at work that you can have but I will not be able to check until wednesday but let me know so I do not forget

I could never get on with cropping in the program so I got a different one

Are you sure you really are cropping? To crop, you select the area, then double-click the area outside to cut it away. You should be left with just the bit you want, the rest has gone. If you can still see the rest, greyed out, you haven't completed the command. That would explain what you are experiencing. It took me while to figure that out.

Any help?

Don't get disheartened, PSP is excellent.

Cheers
Steve

I've always understood that nerves heal very slowly. No doubt the feeling will come back in time.

I hope you aren't wasting the healing time, but are planning lots of new projects!

Regards, John
