How about my right to defend myself in the street Jake?
So because the US has a high death toll from fire arms I cannot carry in public, for the purpose of sef defence, CS gas, a stun gun, a pepper spray or bladed weapon, not even an air gun.
There can be no more basic 'right' than the right to defend myself surely?
My daughter has been mugged and raped, because she was unable to defend herself!

The situation is ridiculous Newt, if you face a burglar armed with a knife and grab a knife to defend yourself then you can claim self defense, carry it onto the street for defense and it becomes an offensive weapon!

I tried to talk a thug into handing over a the one inch chisel he was threatening to use, for my trouble he stabbed my left hand. I cannot but help feel that my attempts at persuasion would have carried significantly more weight had they been backed up with a Smith and Wesson .38!

Given some humans susceptibility to disproportionate rage I worry about the merest possibility that guns could be made legal in this country.

(So yes, people do kill people and guns don't fire themselves)=guns increase the likelihood of death in a given situation.

As for the laughing motorist... Agree we're only hearing one side of the story. I don't have a problem with the policeman's actions. I have more of a problem with a motorist who felt compelled to make such a fuss about it.
