Anyone else agree that it is utter tripe?

Some episodes of Series 1 and 2 were very good and had actual crimes, a plot etc. This Series is a damp squib.

I've so far refused to watch any Sherlock Homes since Jeremy Brett. He's THE definitive Holmes and will never be bettered. Any attempt to do so is pure folly.

Though last nights wasn't too bad, but the NYD special was crap. Awful - I could have kicked myself for staying up to watch it!

Some of series 1&2 were good though.

Benedict Cumberbatch is bloody good though - saw him in Star Trek - Into Darkness, and he was good in that too.

Cheers

Hi Karl

Was there ever a crime in the end? We gave up watching.

MMUK...you missed some very good programmes and a fresh approach in Series 1 and 2.

Totally agree.

*Spoiler alert* Apparently the victims didn't notice they'd been stabbed because they were wearing a belt. Or something like that. Total nonsense.

Shame, we'd been looking forward to it as the earlier series had such promise. I guess this is what happens when one of the lead characters takes a couple of years out to be a Hobbit - the writers get all up themselves and try to be too clever by half. Ah well, there's always Elementary...

Agree - it was a pretty pathetic "murder" method.

I quite like elementary. Miller plays a good part.

Me too, it's the first thing I've seen him in that I didn't think he was rubbish, on the contrary I think he plays it very well.

Got to agree with you, Jeremy Brett IS Sherlock Holmes to me. all of the others fail in comparison.

Nonsense.
Basil Rathbone is Holmes!

I do rather like Elementary as well, Lucy Liu makes a great (Joan) Watson :)

LMAO! Rathbone was a wet fish! Complete lack of character personality. Just an actor playing a part, and not very well at that.

With Brett, he became Holmes. The mannerisms, the little tics. Holmes took over his life. Even when he was dying, Brett carried on filming.

Yes. I watched this week's episode only and felt that the director/writer was trying so hard to be clever that it was complete nonsense.

Having watched a couple of episodes the other day online I think I can safely say that I could probably write a better script even though all of my previous script writing has been done for stage rather than screen.

It is either complete nonsense or far to clever for a simpleton like me to follow/workout. #-o
