Help?

Just took delivery of a Woodster PT105 - hoped it would be a reasonable hobby machine, and there's no way I could get anything bigger down into my basement.

Set it up as a planer, and did a few trial passes of some pine and maple across the top - nice results.

Switched it off and swapped the dust extractor to thicknesser position. Switched it on ... but it's dead! Tried a reset button adjacent to the NVR switch (not mentioned in the manual) and the red and green buttons. Changed to a different plug in the workshop. Changed the fuse twice. Still dead ...

Going to get on to NMA in the morning, but has anyone got any ideas?

Don't know that particular machine but some have interlock switches when converted into thicknessers. maybe the dust hood is not closing that switch.
If you put it back in planer mode does it work?

Hi Tony, I think the above post is spot on - This planer is very similar to the SIP branded model and I seem to remember that model had a similar issue - There was nothing wrong with the machine you just had to make sure that the dust shoot was wound up correctly on the thicknessing table when surfacing, or mounted correctly on the surfacing tables when thicknessing to switch the safety microswitches correctly

Hope this helps

Changed it back - still dead - no signs of micro-switches etc that might not be connecting with regards to the plastic dust extraction device which is moved when changing modes - no "positive" clicks or other sensations from the green or red NVR switches, or from the "reset" button close by - but they often don't do they ...

I'll talk to NMA in the morning ... at least they are close by if I need to put it in the back of the car ...

i have a pt85 (ithink) and the dust collector lugs need to be in the slots to activate the machine.

if i use mine with out extractor i unscrew the latches off the housing and shove them in the slots

thats the tag that needs to be inserted

It looks the same as the Clarke, The interlock is inside the machine and energised when you push both tabs securely home. Seem to remember that the hood had to be the right way round as well but could be wrong.

Think you all may be right ... there does seem to be a microswitch setup on the extractor lugs ... and when I very carefully made sure the lugs were fully home and rattled around it seemed to work ... disn't get the chance to play properly as it was late and I needed to put supper on the table ... but it might be I was a bit casual and careless about putting it together, not realising that firmly/assuredly fitting the dust extractor wasn't a token gesture but an essential! I'll play a bit more tomorrow ...

THANKS everyone ...
