what is the benefit of a butt chisel?

It enables the user to get into small places that an otherwise bigger chisel won't get into. Here's an example:

I have a set of Ashley Isles which I think are slightly bigger?
The problem I find is that they are too small to fit my Tormek and just about fit my Kell II and Veritas jig - but will not fit the Kell III?
