hehe Actually, I would never class myself a Tool collector. I do not yearn for every shiny plane out there. I do yearn for good results, however.

Things I consider myself a collector of:

Trainers
Body Art
Wasted Time
Debt

;)

To be fair wizer I think you are a collector of tools, I've been on this here forum for about 8 months and I've seen you buy or looking to buy a multitude of tools, from lathes and super saws to the latest planes, and the only thing I've seen come from your workshop was that lovely chopping board you posted a few weeks back.

The first step is admitting it. If we all had the money we'd be right behind you with a collection of tools!

I suppose it depends on your definition of collecting.

I'll sympathise there and also need to convert the part made projects and large piles of tree into finished pieces. Productivity rate is quite low so far

I've given up caring about productivity. It'll come.

Swipe me Mike!
You ain't 'arf got dainty feet. Or is it foreshortening due to using the wrong lens?

You should have gone to Spec*****ers!!! They're size 9-1/2!
Mike

I did go to S/Svrs! Couple of months ago.

So it must be my monitor!

And I need 10 1/2's! So you still got dainty feet! Mind you, the pitch I 'played' on was considerably longer than one chain!

Enjoy your running Mike. At 46 my best mile was 5.5 minutes. Now I have to have new knees. It's walking for me, after the recovery!

After 13 years of not running, I bought some decent shoes.....

.......then did 3.5 miles in 29 minutes!! For a first run in 13 years I'm really happy....

After my wife did the Bristol half marathon last year, I decided to start running in the autumn. We have both signed up to the Bristol 10K in May. My latest idiocy: take car to garage, run to work (4 miles), work all day, run back to garage to pick up car. Thank god it is downhill on the way back ;)

I can manage teh distance of the 10K, I just need to increase the speed, I am just under 10 minutes per mile...

One thing I was really not expecting was that I actually enjoy the running. The last time I ran anywhere was 20 years ago, being forced to do the school cross country with the gym teacher behind me yelling that I was going to slow and to stop walking ;)

Frugal,

Great to hear that another woody is going through the same as me! That's a great idea, running to work and back..........so long as there is a shower at work!! That wouldn't suit my 20 miles journey (not yet anyway!!!).

When I was playing cricket we all had to coach youngsters in the winter, and I remember running in to the ground, doing a days coaching, then running home again.........over 7 miles each way. So I know I can do it. Heart and lungs are great (I play squash 3 or 4 times a week).....its just the pain from calves, shins, achilles and feet!!! I know it will ease as I get into it.

Best of luck with the 10K! I'm planning on a couple of 5 mile fun runs this year.......but I have to avoid the races my wife enters because it is her sport. I would hate it to be competitive between us, and she is proud of taking up running at 47 and achieving so much in one year.

John,

I reckon I could do a 5-1/2 minute mile.....there's a challenge!!! I certainly couldn't do another one straight afterwards........and that is way slower than the pace they run all the way through marathons these days!!!! Amazing!

Mike

Mike,

Way back then, I eventually found I was making a ten mile circuit of Sutton Park, in a regular hour and 10. I staled out at that. As soon as I realised I would have to keep increasing distance run, or speed to lose more wieght then I gave up on it as a means of controlling weight. I went back into the workshop more frequently. I have to admit, I did feel like I had a good C/V system and stamina, but the weight remained static!

At almost 70 now, I can run for a 'bus, (If he waits for me!)
