Loft ladder

I have a "posh" wooden (heavy) loft ladder which I want to fit.
It is second hand: given to me by someone who build a proper staircase and no longer needed it.
It comes with a system that uses Spring drums to counterbalance the weight.
Problem is one is broken.
Can't identify anyone selling these, although they look fairy common over the pond in our former colonies.
Any ideas?

Looks like you need to look for 'constant force spring', though I don't know if you will find the identical one, may need to adapt it. For example

I've fitted a couple from a brand called Titan Ladders.

You could try and contact them, I'm sure they could ship you spares

I looked at Titan website.
In the event of not fixing what I have, I might buy one from them.
Was quite surprised how cheap they are for a decent version.
