I'm planning to fit 600x600mm led light panels to illuminate my workshop, can anyone recommend a suppliers or place to order decent 4000k units from?
They also come with hanging kits. I just used screwed support points into the SIP boards I had as the roof and then hung them on wiresHow are you guys mounting the recess panels? Do you have the full grid ceiling, or are you just sticking single panels up?
I just used 4 spare angle brackets and bent them to suit then screwed then to the ceiling. The panels do not weigh much. How are you guys mounting the recess panels? Do you have the full grid ceiling, or are you just sticking single panels up?
I’ve got 5 in my 5x2.5 garage. Just about right. Most interesting. I am trying to figure out how many 600mm panels I will need. My workshop will be 4m x 5m and ceiling height of 2.4m
Originally planned LED batons but these look much better.
That doesn't make a lot of sense as 6500k is much bluer than 4000k.I have them, they’re brilliant. Got mine from Toolstation. £20 each. I went for the 6500k version. As inspector said it’s like working in sunlight. Colours look right under these. I find the 4000k too blue.
Yep might not make sense but that’s what my experience is. Perhaps as 6500k is close to sunlight the brain see’s it as normal so ignores the fact that it’s bluer than 4000kThat doesn't make a lot of sense as 6500k is much bluer than 4000k.

Or this is a more practical illustration (but doesn't go as blue as 6500)

Yes, and intensity is really important as well as CCT and CRI, and there's a link between them (or at least intensity and CCT). Our brains expect dimmer light to be warmer (sunrise/sunset) and brighter light to be cooler (midday sun). It's hard (impossible domestically) to ever match the intensity of bright daylight with artificial lighting, so I've never been in a so-called daylight temp lit space without it feeling really unpleasant subjectively. But there's probably a lot of personal variation I guess, both physical and psychological.Colour temperature is not the only variable when considering how things look.
Colour rendering index (CRI) will have a big effect. LEDs are less bad than fluorescent bulbs were, but if you want to see things clearly, you need to consider 4 things. Intensity (obviously!), light temperature, CRI and shadows point v diffuse source)
