What goes around comes around.
Depends on the period you take:RogerS":3enjvovq said:Jacob":3enjvovq said:Even that fear is a bit exaggerated. We had 7/7 and a few other minor incidents but nothing compared to the IRA. In America far more people are killed by gun nutters than terrorists even if you include 9/11. Not sure what the figures are but I expect it's in the 100s times more, if not 1000sMickCheese":3enjvovq said:Most prejudice is borne out of fear. We are fed a diet of anti Muslim propaganda in the media. We are told we should fear the Muslim community when in fact what we should fear is a small radicalised minority.

Do your research, sunshine. People killed in 9/11 - approx 3000.
People killed due to gun crime - approx 30,000
That is 10 times. Not 100. Not 1000's.
Terrorist deaths in America, say 2000 to 2015 about 3000.
Gun related deaths in the same 15 years about 450,000
Compare this with expenditure;
on reducing gun deaths; about zero
on "fighting terrrorism"; billions of dollars and many American lives.
Seems to lack a sense of priority, they should be doing something about the terror within!
To look at 9/11 another way - the death total was about the same as the gun-related death total in a typical American 4/5 week period - which many Americans see as quite acceptable. Bias?
