Is there any heat transfer if you direct a light beam from certain bulbs on to the tablesaw top?
I'm thinking spot type lamps.

I had one in an anglepoise type lamp. The lamp slowly collapsed onto my PC monitor while I was out of the room. It had started to melt the plastic casing! There was a 'bobble' in the casing forever after that!

NOW....this has legs!

What about one of these...used in a reptile tank...

REPTILE HEATER

Only 100W...maybe this is the solution!

Or perhaps one of these (click on pic):

Also I was thinking...on one of the many other "heating" threads....we discussed halogen heaters. Now these work by inducing heat into a body near it and particualrly METAL! Eureka moment?

Jim,

I really do think you ought to be a bit more charitable towards Devonwoody.

It is especially unfair at this time of year to suggest that he needs a reptile heater to keep warm!

My Grandad used to have a large, heater bulb thingy in his lavvy. Wasn't Red or Halogen or nowt but it did give off quite a bit of heat, which was most welcome in winter I seem to recall. Doubt they still do them now, this was some decades ago.

Had some experience of these - you need to watch that the heat does not damage the bulb holder and also if water gets on them they go POP (due to localized cooling on the glass bulb :?: :?: )
