A friend of mine in the US recently purchased this ratchet corner brace branded HORLICK, and we are wondering if it may be British as he's pretty sure it's not American. There is a ratchet direction engage/disengage button either side and once selected a position lock on top. Any clues?
Cheers,
Geoff.

I've no idea and haven't been able to find anything, sorry.
It does look the sort of thing that could easily have been made in Birmingham or the Black Country. A bit reminiscent of the sort of work needed to make locks or guns, which were both made in that area for a long time. A nice combination of filed steel and smooth wood.
