what can I say, we go through hoovers in our house like hot dinners.

Dysons, LGs, and now Vaxs... all bit the dust.

We have 1 dog (springer) and 2 small boys, and live in a small 3 bed semi, nothing TOO "industrial" here. Yes Mrs Kityuser hoovers everyday.......

Dysons, not loosing suction my butt!...... not going to waste another penny there......

We got an LG, 2KW of suction power and it was superb until the motor burnt out almost exactly a year (to the day) of purchase, we convinced comet to give us another one (updated model), but this time it was only 1/2 as good as the origonal machine and eventually would'nt pick up.

So a few weeks ago we bought a vax from argos, 1/2 price and especially targeted at homes with pets (hema filter - an all).
It picks up LOVELY, but too much dust gets through the cyclone unit to the pre-motor filters (which clog).
It started out that we needed to clean the filters every other day (wash and dry in the airing cupboard). Today, with clean filters its lasted 5 mins before the red light has come on and you can hear internally its gone into "bypass" where a flap opens and the motor draws air through from a port other than the cleaning inlet.
We have noticed that it picks up FAR more than any other vacuum clean we have ever had (on full power you can hardly push it across the floor it suck so well!), but REALLY fine stuff seems to get through the cyclone into the filters. We have tried reducing the power, but this just perlongs the problem and you end up getting maybe 10 minutes of cleaning rather than 5...... not good

I've had enough, obviously we'll get some sort of replacement, probably fine again for a few weeks..... then just more agro..

ticked off

Mr (& MRS) Kuser....

Sebo (you can buy from JL (at Bluewater in your case, I'm guessing)).

No competition. End of...

(In true Victor Kiam style... I loved mine so much I bought my mum one (and she's had a few vacuums in her time and loves this one the best)).

Hi Mr & Mrs KUser,
We've had a SEBO 'X1' for 11 years and it is still going strong Sebo Site
They do do an X4Pet - designed especially for pet lovers and allergy sufferers - sounds like the one for you.
They are failrly expensive but come with a 5 year parts & labour guarantee - they're that certain of their machines.
You can buy parts / spares / accessories for years e.g. long hose that reaches to the top of the stairs, special brush for laminate / wooden floors.

It's the only one for me

David

LOL - can't argue with two completely independent endorsements of Sebo (check out the post times).

BTW - I've got a Henry too. They're great for clearing up when I've been working around the house but come nowhere near the Sebo on carpets.

Dyson are great when they work but when you go to the local tip, count the Dysons / Electrolux / Hoover etc. None of them can last like Sebo do.

David

Thats because people don't buy parts and put 'em right.
We have an dc 07 and after 5 years it lost it's efficiency.
After looking around at other vacuums we dicided to put the Dyson right
two new hoses £26 was all it took. It's now back to original power :D

I think the links wrong,it seems to have gone back to the 70s

We had two Dysons. Both broke after about 18 months use (and this was before we had kids). Wouldn't waste another penny on another.

I've just got myself a Fein QA35 dust extractor. It's great for the workshop, but has seen more use cleaning up at both our house and clients' houses.

Cost less than both our Dysons.

Cheers

Karl

I have 4 Henrys in my house and one in the workshop.

Have you thought of installing a built in vacuum system? It can't be much more different to a workshop set up.

We've had 2 Dysons, the big problem is the brush system, you only have to get a little hair tangled around the spindle on the brush and it quickly heats up and melts the plastic bearings. The cost of the brush head on its own is ridiculous.

Last Dyson has been relegated to shop vacuum. Currently we have a Miele Cat and Dog, more powerful than the Dyson and so far so reliable. Only problem is the speed at which it will fill a bag and I do have to say that I miss watching the clear container fill up with dust and fluff. Though maybe that has something to do with being an obsessive shop sweeper :D

SEBO

A different league to ANYTHING else by a million miles. I have travelled the world and seen them in more hotels than any other make. My MIL can strip it down to component parts and fix it and she is a mechanical imbecile. Simple, effective, endlessly reliable and beautifully engineered. It makes the vacuming a pleasure!!!!

Actually that last bit is a lie, but the rest is true.

do they suffer loss in suction due to the bag clogging early on?
