I literally purchased the SC4 days before this chuck was launched. Some of the new jaw fittings look excellent and thankfully they fit the SC4! It is good to have a system and sensibly priced jaws you can add as a when projects arise.

I think it difficult to improve mature scroll chuck technology - the first (I believe) was introduced in 1988 by Teknatool 36 years ago.

Currently chucks seem differentiated mainly by quality and precision, and the variety of jaws offered. I suspect I am unlikely to upgrade from my current SC3 and SC4 chucks I currently own, even if the jaws will still fit.

I use an Axminster 100K and an Record SC4. The Ax has got Cole jaws on it and I use the SC4 with my dovetail jaws and I occasionally consider getting another Record chuck but only because I am lazy to change the jaws between small.
This looks the same as the SC4 other than having the extendable jaws which I struggle to identify a use for, personally. As these new jaws fit the previous RP chucks then I'm not sure what the point of it is. Is there any other difference?

The only other chuck I might consider buying in the future is the one where the jaws are more easily changed, Versachuck I think it is.
