I bought myself a new pair of headphones t'other day so I decided to make the SG headphone stand. I really need to figure out how to use my cheapo Lidl router so I can make some nice edges.

Nice work Martin!

That Steve Goode sure is one productive fella!

Routers are great tools. Arguably the most versatile power tool of them all. I'm a carpenter by trade and I can tell you my routers make my life a lot easier.
You should knock yourself up a small table for the router and you'll be able to enhance your work no end.

Martin.

Have a look at http://www.wealdentool.com a couple of decent cutters from them will transform, your Lidl router.

Plus as Philip n, said in his post a router table is very useful, I found that it tamed the beast (router) which I found a bit scary hand held.

Like the headphone stand.

Take care.

It seems strange to say that to get the best out of a portable tool, (for small work) you should turn it upside down and bolt it to a strong table! Honest it is true. It is much easier AND SAFER to pass the workpiece over the cutter, than to attempt to pass the cutter over the piece unless you make several jigs to support the solepate of the router. Even a home made 3 sided box with a veneered top with a hole in it and a fixed fence will help. Look at pictures u res in the Axminster catalogue and simplify it, build it, and use it. It is that easy.

got to admit i'm loving this design from steve G, nicely cut Martin and i will be cutting it for myself in the not to distant future..

Thanks, gents.
I got the table for the router at the same time, about 5 or 6 years back. I can't even remember why I bought it as I had never done anything with wood before that. The only time it has been used was when a friend borrowed it when he was fitting his new kitchen worktop.
