Hi all, as luck would have it my 'puter died at the weekend. Since I use it for work (and don't want to be stuck on my laptop) I contacted PCSpecialist who suggested the following setup (I do high end software development and wanted plenty of cores/threads). I have 32G of crucial memory from the machine that died (and 1T m.2, 2T ssd).
No windows as I will install Linux anyway.....
For those that know does this look like a reasonable spec - I am clueless about motherboard and cooling choices.....

Cases are a "spend what you like" affair in general. You can really go high end, but in general, there isn't a need unless you desire looks. You don't need to spend a lot on a case as many recent budget examples have good airflow, the only watch out is compatibility with coolers and gpus (if needed)
Another response mentioned the peerless assassin cooler, a very good recommendation providing the case can accommodate as its taller than many. The PCS own brand coolers aren't generally well regarded and probably one to avoid.
Motherboard, personally I've avoided this generations ASUS boards as they've come with many issues (luck of the draw as always).
Your processor is a really good multithreaded powerhouse second only to its successor, the 9950x, but the newer model is not on par with the value of the predecessor.
As others have mentioned, confirm your ram compatibility. 16gb would be insufficient. 32gb or even 64gb if dealing with high end projects would be advisable. And speed of 6000mhz or greater with the lowest latency timing possible. A small cost increase, but its where System builders often cheap out for greater profit margins.
Cooler master have several decent PSU's, but id still aim for larger headroom wattage rating and look for gold modular if possible. I'm not sure of your software development workload, but standalone GPU's are usual recommended. This will vastly increase cost and required PSU.
