BLimey there are some exotic cars in those there lists, wish mine was so.
here goes
1977- A35 school/college transport till the brakes catastrophically failed and went under a
lorry, then got nicked for having no licence, so when it came it was endosed
1978- Morris Marina van - hand me down from parents business. Ripped all the interanls
out,and remade it all in tongue and groove, souped up the sound system, had the
motor tweaked to rally 3 level , took the twin back doors off , gave them to a factory
to make the prototype 1 piece door [they made the rear hatch door for the Ford
Ecort] which back then I thought was cool.
1979- Ford Zodiac Excecutive, got this when I joined the Army, had a mate , who had lying
around somewhere a Yank inlet manifold and all the carb gubbins for it to go on the
V6. Which, like young idiots we put on my car. Don't really recall how fast it went, but
I remember on the A40/M40 in the High Wycombe "dip " the fuel guage went from
3/4 full to touching reserve in a very very short time. 8)
1981- Return from the Falklands and I managed to get a cheap Ford Escort mk2. Black
respray, over to Eire to visit the folks and just about got there in 1 piece, jeez do
those Irish farmers take all the road up. Killed it on the return to UK
1981- Rover P4- a fantastic old timer with a straight 6, 3 litre whilst in Germany I sorted the
bodywork out and resprayed it British Racing green, whilst finishing it off a client of
the boss - offered to swap a VW Sirrocco for it (hammer) #-o I refused. One the
way back home the Big ends gave up - too expensive to restore - went to the
scrappies.
1983-Another hand me down Honda Civic mk 1 great little runaround but too small for me,
head kept hitting the roof and was a squeze getting in/out
1983-Part ex'd the Honda for a Skoda soft top with a Rally mk 2 engine/gearbox set up -
christ did it too move like sit of a hot shovel.
So much so, when it got nicked- the
joyrider ended up in hospital after failing to take a turn and ended up under a parked
articulated lorry. =D> =D>
1983-Ex-Mod Commer ambulance van - big bugger like what UPS drives. Great for going to
and from parties but leaked too much oil in the end. Died on the M$ coming back from
Wales
1984- Rover 2200 TC a great car, wish I had one earlier. Got broken into then vandelize to
my regret.
1990/1- Ford Cortina estate bloody graet car till I fell asleep behinf the wheel and wrote it
off.
#-o
1992-
Can't remember what I had after the Cortina apart from borrowing mates
cars/ vans when transport was required.
1996- Opel Kadet my first runaround in Holland till it died
1997- VW transporter, old style with the engine in the back.Drove it all over Europe till it too
died.
2000- Got a Subura Legacy with a very peculiar history - it was once owned by Camila
Parker Bowles wonder if she evr gaver Charlie a ******** in it ?
That got broken into in Holland, so I then had to scrap it
2002- VW Passet estate, not bad, plenty of omph got written off by a driver doing 80 on a
off ramp on the motorway.
2005- Ford Aerostar - in USA, good bus and work mule. Still going strong in Fl.
2006- Chrysler Voyager - the first of many [ well three LOL ] Died by the hands of a German
mechanic- forgot to reconnect a feul line and burnt the engine bay out. #-o
2008- Chrysler Voyager sister to the burnt out one. This died after the third camshaft broke
and killed the rest of the engine.
2010-Third CV- but this time a diesel. Same style / layout but with a wheel chair ramp out
the back, very handy for my tool chests
and still going strong.Hopefully will
last a lot more years.
