I've no connection to this sale but thought there might be one or two unnamed collectors might like a look HERE :D

What about a Stanley No2, again no connections with it's sale, I've got enough Stanleys :^o  ooops nearly forgot the LINK :)

Here's a rare one, a Stanley No 1 with a $850 reserve on it

Oh to be in England now tool sale time is here.

I did not see anything a bout a reserve on those, looks to be the business though. You could doubtless sell what you did not want and get back whatever it costs.

Well, I doubt they'll be that much of a bargain for anyone now.

Is there a code of conduct about posting links to eBay auctions that haven't closed yet? If not, there should be. This is just a peeve of mine. When you're looking for a deal or watching an auction on eBay, the last thing that you want to see is a post about an item that you really want.

When you're looking for a deal

 Do you mean steal? :p

Don't agree. I was looking at this, and should my bid (if/when placed) have secured the lot for a pittance, I would feel honour bound to make good when I collected.

Unless folks get into silly bidding wars, the goodies will go for a fair price for both buyer and seller - what's wrong with that?

Arbitrary posting restrictions can stifle a forum - look at MIMF.com (I haven't for quite some time now) - don't dare point at goods or info elsewhere, be it on your own or a third party's web page.

Cheers
Steve

:D I wish. Maybe I do get guilt prickles too easy (probably kick in around the half price mark.) I know I'd make a lousy salesman.
Cheers

And suppose you hadn't seen/noticed said wanted item on Ebay would you not be glad that someone had pointed it out?

I posted the links as a matter of interest, I'm now waiting to see what silly person will pay more than the $1,065.00 for a minty plane

I wouldn't, and don't, post links to things I'm not interested in on Ebay, because for every 10 non-ebaying members who haven't made the effort to find the stuff and is interested, there'll be an ebaying member who has, and is hoping to have a good result.

You have to remember that this is the biggest advertising space for the stuff we are all interested in on the web. I reckon that a good number of us are regularly competing for stuff anyway - I recognise a number of names!

I don't want rules because rules tend to be stupid blunt instruments, and if someone says "I want X where can I get one" I'd see no objection at all to "look here on ebay" (although personally, I'd do that via PM to keep the publicity and price down).

Spotting something you are interested in, and finding that someone has posted it here, apropos of nothing else, because they think it might be a good deal but aren't interested is a bit annoying, from experience.

Wow, bit of a can of worms here!
I can kind of see both sides of this. I have a permanent search for a No1
and was looking at it anyway when I saw the OP. I can see why people might get antsy but surely an auction is an auction is an auction and a lot will make what someone wants to give, in the final analysis.
I am annoyed at myself that I did not pay more attention to this because I have family drama at this time as I would have paid more than the final bid, not that that means I would have got it by any means.
Ho Hum....
Regards,
Martin

The price depends how many people are in the running, in the end, which depends on exposure as much as anything else.

All I know is that I wouldn't advertise an auction I am interested in on here, so in turn, I don't risk screwing up some other ukw & ebayer's chances by doing the opposite when I'm not interested.

As a seller, I can see the other POV might be preferable!

Speaking personally, I heartily agree.

Well the big tool collection went for £400 I honestly thought it would be higher as the list says a No 2 it don't say stanley though.
