From around lap 15 they were all saving fuel, that's not racing it's a high speed traffic jam.

But since they were all doing it, it becomes part of the race strategy, Each driver still wanted to improve his position.
The rules, restrictions, whatever, become the 'hurdles' in an obstacle race

Agreed, just not an f1 race. It's like taking the fences out of the grand national, it changes the racing too much.

It's happening in MotoGP too. The problem is that the technology allows them to go faster and faster each year, so they have to hold that back, then there's the green issue. They've made a major change in the bikes by switching to 4 stroke from 2 stroke over the last 7 or 8 years. I grew up with 2 strokes so this was a hard pill to swallow however, the racing is still fast and furious. There is now an electric bike class in the TT and sooner or later there will be a GP or Superbike electric class, then after that it will no doubt become all electric to eliminate the need for fossil fuels. Hopefully this will be 'after' my time.

The changes are inevitable whether you like them or not. Just be glad you were around to witness the more exciting years.

Well if you didn't enjoy that race today I would certainly not bother watching any more

It was a corker wasn't it. Great to see a team where they allow the drivers to go at it for the lead from beginning to end. Some great battles down the field as well.

What a shame deserter cancelled his subscription one week too early!

Best race I've seen in years

I had to record it as I was working so was on tenterhooks all afternoon not to hear the result. Almost did a couple of times.

No fuel issues for red bull today! great to see Ricciardo put a move on Vettel then to hear Vetel immediately complain that his car wasn't working  what a crybaby - looks as if he has an unexpected fight on his hands this year.

Yawnarama!

Bring back the 3.0l V10's of the early 90's with no electronic aids and a stick shift

McLaren MP4 =P~

How about this one if you want exciting racing. British Superbikes final round 2011. Regardless of position in the race whoever finishes in front out of Tommy Hill (Londoner) and John Hopkins (American) wins the title. They were running 2nd and 3rd in the race and changed places many times....6 times on the final lap! After a season's racing (24 races, 12 rounds 2 races at each round, so double for your money), Hill won by 6 thousandths of a second. This is the last 2 laps. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RoZZ9I8DhLw

Yup its cool, I was there actually as part of my educating my son in motor sport, you can see similar in most club bike races. A car will never compete with a bike for number of overtakes although NASCAR comes close.

I guess exciting comes with engagement in the result, if you don't care about the result then no matter how much action you are unlikely to find it exciting. I found F1
excruciating in some ways when it was being dominated by drivers with no competition allowed by their teams ie 7 years of Schumacher and 4 years of Vettel. HOWEVER, and it is a big however, I still cared about the teams and the technology and the strategy in F1. This meant I remained a fan of F1 even though some desperate years.

2014 is considerably better than any year since 2009 when we had the last big stir up of regulations. I love seeing the new drivers shaking up the order, I especially love seeing Ricciardo taking the race Vettel and Perez upsetting all the predictions about the Hulk destroying him. Chilton beating his much lauded teammate 3-0 now, extending his unbeaten run of 22 finishes and a great 13th place. Yes Lewis winning again is great but far greater is the way he did it, on the back foot, in a slower car than Nico and being at the end of bad luck with the safety car.

Can't wait for China
