I've recently been given a quantity of waney edge walnut boards, funnily enough from a tree which I felled myself about 5 years ago. I told the customer at the time that it was too good for firewood and recommended that they get it milled up and made into something. I had a call from said customer a couple of weeks ago, they had it milled and its been drying ever since in their garage, (I told them at the time that I make furniture on the side) and asked if I could make them a kitchen table with it. It's really beautiful stuff, I turned a small offcut of it, this piece has a touch of the yin-yang about it... About 10" across, shellac and wax finish. Quite nice that the tree has come back to me after felling it so long ago.
