Goodbye to my England , So long my old friend
Your days are numbered, being brought to an end
To be Scottish, Irish or Welsh that is fine
But don't say you're English, that's way out of line.

The French and the Germans may call themselves such
So may Norwegians, the Swedes and the Dutch
You can say you are Russian or maybe a Dane
But don't say you're English ever again.

At Broadcasting House the word is taboo
In Brussels it's scrapped, in Parliament too
Even schools are affected, staff do as they're told
They must not teach children about England of old.

Writers like Shakespeare, Milton and Shaw
The pupils don't learn about them anymore
And Agincourt, Hastings , Arnhem or Mons ?
When England lost hosts of her very brave sons.

We are not Europeans, how can we be?
Europe is miles away over the sea
We're the English from England , so let's all be proud
Stand up and be counted - Shout it out loud !

Let's tell our Government and Brussels too
We're proud of our heritage and the Red,White and Blue
Fly the flag of Saint George or the Union Jack
Let the world know - WE WANT OUR ENGLAND BACK !!!!

Maybe we need a prime Minister like john Howard of Australia.

Prime Minister John Howard - Australia

Muslims who want to live under Islamic Sharia law were told on Wednesday to get out of Australia , as the government targeted radicals in a bid to head off potential terror attacks.

Separately, Howard angered some Australian Muslims on Wednesday by saying he supported spy agencies monitoring the nation's mosques. Quote: 'IMMIGRANTS, NOT AUSTRALIANS, MUST ADAPT. Take It Or Leave It. I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on Bali , we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Australians.'

'This culture has been developed over two centuries of struggles, trials and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom'

'We speak mainly ENGLISH, not Spanish, Lebanese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society . Learn the language!'

'Most Australians believe in God. This is not some Christian, right wing, political push, but a fact, because Christian men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools. If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home, because God is part of our culture.'

'We will accept your beliefs, and will not question why. All we ask is that you accept ours, and live in harmony and peaceful enjoyment with us.'

'This is OUR COUNTRY, OUR LAND, and OUR LIFESTYLE, and we will allow you every opportunity to enjoy all this. But once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about Our Flag, Our Pledge, Our Christian beliefs, or Our Way of Life, I highly encourage you take advantage of one other great Australian freedom,

'THE RIGHT TO LEAVE'.'

'If you aren't happy here then LEAVE. We didn't force you to come here. You asked to be here. So accept the country YOU accepted.'

Maybe if we circulate this amongst ourselves, American and Canadian citizens will find the backbone to start speaking and voicing the same truths.

I have always thought that one of the very best things about England is that we don't wave flags around.

I think there is a direct correlation between how many flags you see in a country and how scary it is! Think of North Korea, Nazi Germany, USA, Communist USSR, Sadam's Iraq,...........flags everywhere.

Nope....forget flags......... and just keep on keeping on........The whole world will be better off.

Cope sent a challenge frae Dunbar
Sayin "Charlie meet me gin' ye daur
An' I'll learn ye the airt o' war
If ye'll meet me in the morning."

O Hey! Johnnie Cope are ye waukin' yet?
Or are your drums a-beating yet?
If ye were waukin' I wad wait
Tae gang tae the coals in the morning.

When Charlie looked the letter upon
He drew his sword and scabbard from
Come, follow me, my merry men
And we'll meet Johnnie Cope in the morning.

Now Johnnie, be as good as your word
Come, let us try baith fire and sword
And dinna flee like a frichted bird
That's chased frae its nest i' the morning.

When Johnnie Cope he heard o' this
He thocht it wouldna be amiss
Tae hae a horse in readiness
Tae flee awa in the morning.

Fye now, Johnnie, get up an' rin
The Highland bagpipes mak' a din
It's better tae sleep in a hale skin
For it will be a bluidie morning.

When Johnnie Cope tae Dunbar cam
They speired at him, "Where's a' your men?"
"The de'il confound me gin I ken
For I left them a' in the morning."

Now Johnnie, troth ye werena blate
Tae come wi' news o' your ain defeat
And leave your men in sic a strait
Sae early in the morning.

In faith, quo Johnnie, I got sic flegs
Wi' their claymores an' philabegs
Gin I face them again, de'il brak my legs
So I wish you a' good morning.

The Union Jack (Union flag unless afloat) on a is hardly appropriate for an Englishman.

As many of you know, I spend a lot of time north of Hadrians wall. The buggers up there are truely nationalistic mostly in a nice sort of way.

If you really want to p*ss off the natives :twisted: it is a good idea to read up the true facts about Culloden.
Prince Charley was a Italian poof. :lol:
Most of the Scots that were slaughtered were killed by their compatriots on the other side. As were the atrocities after the battle.

They don't like you to mention English oil reserves just off Aberdeen neither :lol: :lol:

Now tell the truth Mike,
Doesn't this look a lot better that that picture you have beside your name?

Well Travis..............if I were a female dung beetle, you'd be wrong!

It's not that I dislike our flag particularly. I dislike all flags! I dislike nationalism, which in my mind ends up being no more than "we're better than you lot". Swearing allegiance, saluting the flag, standing for the National Anthem are what lead pretty directly to extreme nationalism such as expoused by the BNP, or the Blackshirts, or the Gaullists, or Pol Pot etc

My England is full of quirky individuals, some of whom retreat to their sheds at any opportunity, all of whom are interesting and thoughtful, and none of whom would dream of waving a flag.

Travis - this flag is upside down, normally only flown that way as a distress signal!

I may be asking a stupid question here but how can you tell the Union Jack is upside down? To me it looks the same both ways up? (Difficult balancing the laptop to view it though) :lol:

The seed ye sow another reaps;
The wealth ye find another keeps;
The robes ye weave another wears;
The arms ye forge another bears.

Sow seed, -- but let no tyrant reap;
Find wealth, -- let no imposter heap;
Weave robes, -- let not the idle wear;
Forge arms, in your defence to bear.
Shelley - To the Men of England.

St Patricks flag (white back ground with a diagonal red cross) is not centered in the white section of the Scottish Saltire but is offset slightly. The wider wection of white goes at the top corner nearest the flag pole. At least I think thats right. Lurker is right, its really just the 'Union Flag' and only the 'Union Jack' when at sea although the the clock tower being called 'Big Ben', the vast majortiy of people get it wrong.

That's correct Dom. Here in Wales flags are flown regularly and I haven't met many extremists.
PS Other than when Wales plays the 'old enemy' at Rugby!

I suppose it depends where in Wales Digit. I lived there briefly and found the pubs even just outside Cardiff very much local pubs for local people. Didn't feels welcome at all. I've lived in London pre congestion charge and didn't like it at all but I've been back since it all came in and the change is wonderful. You can actually cross the road with relative ease. Lived in Bournmouth for a year and a half and that was by far an away the best. Nice weather, friendly people, reasonable pubs restaurants etc. not the retirement town I was expecting at all. I think I'd go back there if I could afford to buy a similar sized house...which I can't.

I've lived here since 1990 and in all that time, including running a business, have only once met hostility due to my nationality.

Roy.

Of course the truth is there are pratts representing every nation, religion and creed. My wife and daughter are mixed race and I would be horrified if anyone judged them on anything but their actions (which means my Mrs is likely to be judged a pratt herself :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: )

I think there needs to be a little clarity introduced to the situation here. There is a big difference between wanting to protect a nations assets and prejudice.

However, as I say, it is not quite as simple as it appears. I don't know why! But am long in the tooth enough to know it won't be :wink:

Neil

If I judge at all I judge by actions, what ever the colour, race, religion etc and have always, from childhood, thought that disliking someone 'cos their skin is darker than mine is the height of stupidity!
I have never forgotten my step sister refusing to let her daughter play with a school friend 'cos the friend was illegitimate.
I exploded!

Roy.
