I'm about to take the plunge and cash in on the weak dollar and order a cyclone.

Now I fancy a 6" ducting system but I need to find a supplier of the Y junctions, 6" to a 4"ones .
This sort of thing:

Does anyone know a low cost supplier for these junctions and other ductwork. It would seem silly to order them from the Us too, mind you Penn state industries do them for 30 US$, which does seem cheap though.

Andy,

Where are you looking to purchase your cyclone from ?
Do you have a web address you can share ?

Cheers,
Sam

Andy,

I purchased this one from Penn State. I ran one main run of 160mm wavin pipe with 110mm drops to all my machines. The outside diameter of the cyclone inlet is very close to the inside diameter of the 160mm pipe. I sealed the joint with silicone and ducting tape. It works very well with no leaks. This allows me use standard 160mm to 110mm waste fittings. Some pictures of the cyclone can be seen on the link below, unfortunately they haven't been updated in a while as I'm on dialup at the moment. One other thing, if its going to be in your workshop I would recommend a muffler like this as they are fairly noisy. Hope this helps in some way.
Neil.

It's the same one as Neil I'm thinking about, but maybe the 2.5 hp one ( a little more unff is never a bad thing)

Thanks for the info Neil

I too was thinking of a muffler (on the inlet and outlet, as I'm thinking of having the cyclone outside the workshop with the filter on the inside

Neil what 160mm - 100mm Y fittings did you use and who supplied them?

Also the Penn State blast gates with mircroswitch starters are not too costly.

I like Neil was thinking od a separate courier but was looking at another until I saw his note
Now I 'm talking to them too - bax global

I just used standard waste fittings and made my own blast gates. I have plans to make some new ones which will turn on the cyclone automatically (God knows when I'll get around to it).

unfortunately I didn't do this but I'm sorry I didn't.

I try and post some pics. tomorrow but can't promise anything with this internet connection.

Can you tell me roughly what the postage was to the Uk and what method you had/are having the cyclones sent?

Also are you running it with a transformer or did you get a UK spec motor?
Thanks

Andy,

As promised. The dust you see on the pipework is from a lack of a decent hand power tool vac rather than the cyclone.

Paul thats a very good point about 'plastic pipe is like a magnet to dust'.

The avatar is a picture of a demo I was at last Sunday. I live around 250 metres to the left of the Abbey. Our utility company here want to run 400kV power lines around 600m from here. The circle is 2500 people and the river is the Boyne. More info here.
