I always think dowel plates are a bit make do. But ive got a lovely set of rounders(ooo err) these make perfect dowels in any length for furniture to.

If you didn’t pickup from elsewhere I find the best way to use the ‘Peri Plate’ is to cut the wood to size, 8.5mm square for an 8mm dowel etc. sharpen one end, chuck it up in a hand drill and push it through the holes one at a time to reach the desired size.
