I'm about to buy a Domino + the systainer of dominos - would members let me know what the best price for this in summer 2011 is and where it is to be had?

MANY THANKS! :)

Well it'll be a great purchase, they really are massive time savers but ... Festool set the price to all their dealers so getting a bargain is basically not going to happen. Not the sort of thing to pop up in Screwfixs weekly bargain email etc. You can keep an eye out on ebay but to be honest people seem to go a little bananas and pay v. close to new price for some bizarre reason. Sorry.

If your spending a lot they will do discounts on the accessorizes not the tools themselves. But I'm talking buying a Kapex, a stand, a TS55 all the drills and then they might give you a domino cutter for a £1 off :) Check on ebay for the sortainer of bits cheap.

Dealers won't give you discounts, if you employ people and you are in the right area (ie regeneration areas) they sometimes run schemes which are never advertised as its upto the festool reps discretion and these discounts are huge. But unfortunately not available to the majority of us.

You will not regret buying a domino!!

No such thing. Festool manage a strict Retail Price Maintenance regime on their dealers. Yes, i know it's illegal.

I bought a few Festool things in the last few months from a dealer and got 20% discount (off list price) on all the items - I thought that this was the norm?

Just to add to the discussion, when I bought my product, I got a good deal in comparison with the prices on the web. However, my source did ask that I tell no one the price I paid or reveal who they were because if found out they would have difficulties with their supplies if it became known.

I have bought a few Festool bits and always got some discount.

Most Festool dealers offer a 20% discount off the list price which (roughly) brings the cost of the tool down to the Euro equivalent price in Germany. eBay gives a good Festool price indicator with several authorised dealers advertising Buy it Now prices which equate to a 20% discount plus free delivery. Walk away from those who refuse to discount and do the same with a BMW dealer!
Not from this forum:

As has been said before you wont get a variation on price on the tool, jsut make sure that you are getting the 20% off rrp (or that's what it used to be). To get the best deal you'll have to get on the phone or get in the car, when I bought mine I got the systainer with the selection of dominos and bits at a discounted price but I can't remember what it was. I find that face to face negotiations always yield a better outcome.

probably a bit late, but this was the deal i was getting last year, the Domino, side guide and centre guide bulk packs of 5mm, 8mm and 10mm dominos 8mm cutter and 10mm cutter. £665 all in.

If I remember correctly Rutlands had some sort of fall out with Festool or just decided to stop stocking so sold off all their stock cheap. Because of course at that point they didn't care if Festool stopped selling to them. Thats why now if you search festool at rutlands all that is left is a pack of sanding sheets reduced by 50%.

Those that say the dealers don't do deals are wrong, they do. But you need to be spending serious cash. I got my domino for just a smige of £400 brand new ;)

I have unused Domino and box of biscuits (with cutters) for sale. I bought it for a particular urgent job but it didn't arrive in time. I'll dig it out and PM anyone interested.

Temptation leading to a brief deviation from the one true way.
