Just going to have to grass up your local dealer. Totally unacceptable!

Welcome to the club!

Is that the "DF 500 Q PLUS" it should have No - 574256 on the systainer case if it is ?????

List price £504 + vat £579 inc

If it is you do have a right bargain if you feel like PM ing me your dealers name I promise I wont tell Festool  just incase he has anymore

That does sound a like a bargain. Even still, I hope you're going to give it plenty of use to make it worth the while!

Glad to see you didn't buy the vacuum as well (many others seem to...?). Does this mean you can finally crack on with that 'bench build??? :D

I shan't be using the domino for my bench. May instead of biscuits for the top but its probably a waste of dominos as just plain face glue should do.

I am hoping to start the bench in the new year, thinking of buying PAR Beech as I'm with out a P/T at the moment.

I'm sure it will earn its keep over the years.

I'll post up some pics on the big day don't worry about that an show my source.

I'm in the same boat on bench building Chems. I've some nice new Hammer machines, but have to wire the shop to get them running.

I've some glued up maple worktop (to laminate to give around 80mm thickness) for the top, but am likewise thinking of PAO for the legs and facings so i can get going.

Tempted to use multiple dominos on the trestles, but not between them.

Can't figure out whether to use 4 X 4 in oak, iroko or possibly beech for the legs..

Thoughts anybody?

Get Chris Swartz Bench Building. Really good book an will answer all your questions.

Meanwhile back to my gloat . . . . . .

Ah so you got it in America, so is it a 110v version. Very nice sure youll have lots of fun with it. Allways bugs me that tools manufactured in Europe can be bought so much cheaper in America than they can here :deer

Correcto, I spent the last 6 days in New York but before I went I ordered this from a place in Texas. It arrived whilst I was there. This is the slightly older versions, in that it has pins on the base or something that the new one doesn't? I don't know what that means as the pins on the base are a great feature and one I want. I already have a converter I just need some dominos!

The older pin style domino is regarded better than it's replacement. They copied a maffel part and had to change it when threatened with the law.

I take it that the USA 110V being 60 Hz and the UK being 50Hz is not an issue?

Ed

Tools with universal (brush) motors do not depend on the frequency of the supply to determine their speed. Dominos fall into this category.

Theoretically there is an issue with possible overheating with 50 Hz tools running on a 60 Hz supply however this is rarely a real problem and then only with some tools that are run continuously for long periods such as a saw or a planer.

There are 2 options for the power. Either spend £10 on a 110v site converter plug for the Festool Plug It system an splash out on a 110v converter. Or I can buy a transformer for 240v to 110v 450w. Still deciding.

I'd have thought that an ordinary site transformer would be far more useful, universal and not risk being blighted with a festool price tag.

Yeah, they are still around £50. I'm leaning that way, the festool lead is only £10 so not to massive. I'd prefer to buy the £50 site transformer as it will be useful in the future. Thanks for the advice 9fingers, my plan had only got to running customs and no further. :)

Chems did you have to sneak it through customs or pay any duty ?

Also did you notice rutlands doing them for 499 but yours is still cheaper, I have a few friends with holiday homes in Florida I was going to get them to get me some stuff years ago but didnt want to hassle them. I might take the family to Disney sometime and I can go tool shopping
