This was the same guy who in his final bill on another job put in £50 for stroking the cat every day - and he got it - the customer thought it was great! Thank goodness not all customers are bad.
Sounds a bit like on kitchen installer I know who adds a £50 "mucky madam surcharge" if he is required to pull-out an old kitchen which is particularly manky - although what he calls it on the bill I have no idea. Actually, that doesn't sound like a bad idea.

"They had moved to Spain" ............................What do some people think life is about? How do they sleep at night?

What a shame you didn't have to drive by on the Friday, you sure could've given them a nice surprise

Horlicks of course

So, that's why Smith Kline Beecham (Makers of Horlicks) make so much profit.

Still it must be quite good stuff, dear old William (The founder) lived from 1846 to 1936

but maybe the other reason was he was born at the right time,
the british army had no wars during the early part of his life, and by the time of the boer, and first wars he was too old

mind you old man kellogg lived a long time too.

Only had two problems with payment in 24 Years.

First was a woman who was obviously mad, did a good job but she spent most of her day crying for some unknown reason and when it cam to payment she picked holes in everything. She paid there and though so not really a problem.

But you sometimes think you may have done sub standard work and that bothers me...

The second was for some wardrobes in Hamsted Garden. Quote specified a spray primer on the doors. Job was finished and customer said he expected a glossy style (almost high laquer finish) on the doors and therefor he would not pay until it was done.

Now, like some of you my quotes have been honed over the years to being extremely watertight.

But I was going to Florida the next day and wanted to get paid. He did finally agree to pay a cheque. However with a little persuasion I got him to get me the cash.

I love the job I do and I like the money, I just dont like they way some customers think I will spend my time argueing or waiting for the money.

90% of my customers are repeat business and so I have a good reputation but after all these years you still cant spot all of them.

But T & C (cast iron) are always good and dont be afraid of going to court for your money if all else fails.

I however originally come from Whitechapel and have a large family. We also have an rather illustrious history and with a name like Nichols what can you expect. (just in case it was too cryptic, type, whitechapel nichols into google,,,,,,)

Not so much a customer from ****, more a customer from another planet.

Before I started making furniture, I used to have a pine furniture shop where I would take orders from customers, then place an order with a manufacturer or importer. The furniture would arrive a few weeks later 'in the white' (unfinished) upon which I would phone the customer to arrange a mutually convenient delivery day and time, and then get to work finishing it in the spray-shop I had in the warehouse.

Late one Tuesday morning I sold a dining table & chairs to a couple. I took their details, a deposit, and quoted them the usual 4 weeks for delivery. I must have omitted to say 'about' 4 weeks!

At Tuesday lunchtime exactly 4 weeks later I received an irate phone call from the female half of the couple demanding to know where her dining set was. As it happened it was at that moment being unloaded from a van into the spray shop ready to be sanded down. I explained to my customer that it would be ready for delivery on Thursday.

'But', she spluttered, 'You said four weeks! We ordered it at 11.30am four weeks ago today so we naturally assumed that it would be delivered at 11.30 this morning. I've taken the day off work specially!'
