Only had two problems with payment in 24 Years.
First was a woman who was obviously mad, did a good job but she spent most of her day crying for some unknown reason and when it cam to payment she picked holes in everything. She paid there and though so not really a problem.
But you sometimes think you may have done sub standard work and that bothers me...
The second was for some wardrobes in Hamsted Garden. Quote specified a spray primer on the doors. Job was finished and customer said he expected a glossy style (almost high laquer finish) on the doors and therefor he would not pay until it was done.
Now, like some of you my quotes have been honed over the years to being extremely watertight.
But I was going to Florida the next day and wanted to get paid. He did finally agree to pay a cheque. However with a little persuasion I got him to get me the cash.
I love the job I do and I like the money, I just dont like they way some customers think I will spend my time argueing or waiting for the money.
90% of my customers are repeat business and so I have a good reputation but after all these years you still cant spot all of them.
But T & C (cast iron) are always good and dont be afraid of going to court for your money if all else fails.
I however originally come from Whitechapel and have a large family. We also have an rather illustrious history and with a name like Nichols what can you expect. (just in case it was too cryptic, type, whitechapel nichols into google,,,,,,)
