A couple of others items. Th tissue box is from home grown sycamore and the frame for the clock (based on wood whisperer design) is some cherry that Waka let me have.

Pete you beat me to it. I am making 2 of those clocks for xmas presents, if the inserts ever arrive. Don't tell Marc, but I think yours is better!!

Where did you get your inserts?

I wish i'd done that. I used a company called Everglades and have been waiting 2 weeks for delivery.

Foreverglades you may say then .

Very nice  I really like the tissue box and the perfect time of year for one judging by all the sniffing going on in my house   Is the top removeable to put a full box of tissues in there or do you stuff them in through the hole

newt, where did you get the two bars from ? looks like the ideal gift for my gran (been racking my brains trying to think of something to make for her)

paul

The whole tissue box goes in underneath and the bottom is held in place by to magnets. The two brass bars I turned up on the lathe.

I do like the clock! :)
But...
I really like the tissue box idea, it certainly does look like a useful thing that I could make! Sorry to steal the idea!

Some of the sheds have racks of metal in different cross sections, you may be lucky and find something you could use there. :-k

What method do you cut your mitres Pete? TS/SCMS/Hand/Shooting Board ?

Nice items, specially the clock. but should they not be in the projects section? Need to make a clock for on top of my Elm sideboard so inspiration for me.

Wizer shooting board, and at this size 22mm it was just about on the limit, in terms of my strength to push the plane through the cut. Yes I guess they should be in the projects section, although I thought that was generally used where there was work in progress showing stages of the project.

Martin, no the tissue box sits inside the main box via the bottom and the bottom is retained by a couple of magnets. would you like a pic.

Martin as requested, you can just see the magnets on the box, they are epoxied onto pieces of wood that also keep the tissue box from moving. The two corresponding pieces in the bottom part are just mild steel. The bottom sits in a rebate.
