Clocks

My first project on this forum was a Halifax Bracket clock. A friend asked if I could make him one with a battery movement. My neighbour got a mechanical chiming movement off eBay and asked if I could put this into a clock and while you are set up to make two you may as well make three
The dials and battery movements are from www.clockparts-uk.co.uk and the handles were off a market stall.

Are they all oak?

Yes they are oak and probably the cheapest project I have done.
The carcasses for the clocks were from an oak table top that had been given to me. The moulding were from offcuts that had been discarded as being too small to be of any use.
I bought 5 clock movements complete with hands for £7-50, the dials were £11-75 P&P about a fiver. The handles were £1-50 each off a market stall and to hold the doors closed I took the magnets out of the magnetic pins that you get from the stationers, so for about £30 I've made 3 clocks.
The different oak gave some problems with colour, as there is quite a difference after applying danish oil. My friend and neighbour are OK with the finish and as I will probably end up giving the other away I don't think I will have any complaints

Yes, but I cannot remember where I got them from and I've just passed them on to another forum member after scanning them.

Be careful Alan, it can become a habit, I've made several, and currently have a couple of mechanical movements looking for cases at the moment, and some where to put them!

Must be nearly tree years ago Alan sent me the plans for the carriage clock and I never did anything with them.

A month ago he contacted me to see I still had the plans, yes I did, so this morning this parcel came in the post,

All the wood planed, rebated and cut to make a carriage clock.

So a mahogany carriage clock, hear I come.
Alan your a very generous man.

I did the easy part shaping the moulding, and cutting the rebates, you have the difficult part cutting the mitres and putting together.
