Here’s something to think about:

Humans has wiped out 60% of mammals, birds, fish and reptiles since 1970

In last 100 years Humans have wiped out forests equal to the area of America…..as much as was lost in the last 9000 years

Human population has grown from 2.5b to 8.0b in 75 years.

The good news is that expanded population means more chance of survivors, but not necessarily in large numbers, particularly not if we have wrecked the joint in the process.

Then again there’s the servicing cost. A standard service at the main dealer cost me £115 last time plus £40 for the MOT (they give me a discount on the MOT) a level 2 where they change all the fluids is just over £200.
I recently noticed this on YouTube. It tallies with what a Mercedes owner I worked with used to pay for servicing his car.

You're clutching at straws and wasting your time.
Main dealers are always way too expensive, they charge full rates but put apprentices on the routine service and oil changes. Mercedes are definitely way up there which is why I don't use them. I use a local trusted independent who employs older time served mechanics and charges similar rates to the ones you pay and btw I only pay £35 for the MOT's :ROFLMAO: He put's them through at trade rate and also gives me extra discount off parts and consumables.
There is absolutely no requirement to use a main dealer even when the car is under warranty as long as it's a legitimate VAT registered company using OEM parts the warranty has to be honoured.

Additionally I don't believe the costs you ringed. I can and do get quotes on line via the Mercedes website, in my case they differ between the Newcastle dealer and the Edinburgh who has a branch in Coldstream who can collect my car, leave a loaner and drop my car back for £20. I have never had a quote higher than £570 which included a brake fluid change ( my garage does it for £140 every 2 years ). I'm also not at all sure about the "1000 mile service", No such thing when I bought my car around the same time as it's a 12 month service interval, same as a neighbour who is on his second GLA now though he does have his serviced by the main dealer - silly person.

EDIT
I've just done some quick checks and still the same system service schedule A at 1 year / 10,000 miles B service at 2 years / 20,000 miles etc. there are many sites you can check that https://www.mercedesbenzofwarwick.com/manufacturer-information/mercedes-benz-service-schedule/

Here ya go. Have just got a quote for my car a B service, more expensive and it's main dealer £405. The A service would be cheaper.

Such a diversion from the thread title and original discussion.
Back on topic observations.
The current track the world population is on will at best cause decimation of the human population, at worst, the extinction of humanity.

So Starmer wants to drive his image forward as the saviour of the human race.
Yippee, he looks a martyr to humanity. BUT , in the process he is going to anhilate the UK on the sacrificial alter of climate change.
You might think think that his sacrifice of your life is noble, but I don't.

You've succeeded on that front!

But will not cost as much as doing nothing and watching nature take its course.

Then why do you bother to keep shrieking hysterical nonsense at everybody?
That's a bit rich coming from the Archbishop of Woke & Nonsense. The hysterical nonsense is coming from such as yourself and the same group of left wing backslappers who rise to any opinion which doesn't fit with their choreographed and stunted left wing view of the world.

Of course we've got to do something about the pollution going into our atmosphere and biosphere, that isn't in an option. What I do question and what many on here fail to appreciate is that this nominated figure of net zero is going to cost the country countless billions of pounds to accomplish.

It doesn't matter what studies show, or what the politicians tell us, we all know that where politicians and governments are involved, the real world figures are nothing like what was originally mooted.

We now have a climate sceptic due to enter the White House so we should tread even more cautiously where our net zero plans are concerned. Couple that with the clueless bunch of politicians purporting to be the UK government and it could be a double disaster so re-evaluating our net zero plans very carefully would be a wise decision.

If only we could persuade nature to re evaluate the consequences of our stupidity.
The effects of climate change are clear for all to see, and only likely to get worse, so we need to crack on in minimising our contribution.

In your opinion.

in the process he is going to anhilate the UK on the sacrificial alter of climate change.
Do you have evidence to support your assertion?

Facts are quite useful to separate meaningful debate from mere political tribalism.

Do you think it would be better to do nothing about climate change?
Personally I'm not as impressed as you are by Starmer's performance so far - we need far more action immediately, it's getting too late.

That's curious I thought we were and had already been doing our bit or are you just doing your usual virtue signalling?
Starmer's performance by the way is utterly abysmal let alone unimpressive.

Tony Im worried about the effect your all your hot air is having on the climate

The bloke's hardly got his feet under the table. Let's see in five years how Labour does compared with the last lot.
He's done enough harm already, we don't need 5 years of him, in fact he'll more than likely be gone in a year and then we'll have the lovely Angela and friends ruling.

Starmer wasn't even in power and he lied through his teeth to the electorate about his plans in order to be elected not to mention the sleaze which he made so much about as the opposition leader!
He's a walking disaster and the sooner he's gone the better for this country.

But once upon a time mummy did not have to go to work and spent her time bringing up the kid or kids and would sit down and watch childrens Tv with them and then the Tv went off and you went out and played with real friends or walked down the shops with mum as dad used the car for work and mum did not drive. Now seems like they are driven everywhere and get ignored to much.

It's a good job there are no women woodworkers, or else one might have found their way onto the forum to read that and judged it a little sexist...

There are many around .

I thought they would be too busy attending to the kids, doing the washing up, cleaning, laundry, shopping, ironing, and making themselves look and smell nice ready for when hubby gets back from work (or, at weekends, when they back in from woodworking in t' shed)...

Besides, they do the knitting don't they?
