It's not worth correcting him, all his posts on this thread and similar contain misinformation, inaccuracies, radicalised narrative and general cluelessness.
Maybe consuming too much propaganda from head the balls like Kirk, Shapiro, Fuentes , Kennedy, Jones et al.
Sad.
Thanks Noel, your insights are always welcome. So, perhaps you would do me the curtersey of actually highlighting anything you feel is incorrect rather than just carrying out a character assassination? The role of a moderator has been over stepped by your post.

If we take a couple of examples:

1 iphone

This iPhone has over half the USA market and apple sell 1/4 billion units globally

Where is it made: virtually none in USA, it’s parts come from Japan, Taiwan, China etc. the Gorilla glass is made in Texas.

Where is it assembled: China, Vietnam, India

The largest assembly plant is Hon Hai Technology Group (Foxconn), is located in Zhengzhou and employs over 300,000 workers. It can assemble 1/2 million a day.

Good luck relocating that to USA.

Example 2: clothing

USA imports 97% of its clothing.

Levi’s, Wrangler, Lee none are made in USA

What people don’t realise is that it’s American businesses and American brands that are using Chinese manufacture….and it is those brands that would suffer.

China, India, Vietnam etc have Labour rates a fraction of the USA, Trumps tariffs mean either

A) pay the tariff and products in shops go up in price

B) bring manufacture into USA, pay higher Labour costs….products in shops go up in price.
You would think it was pretty obvious, but apparently not.

In fairness most if not all of your posts in this thread are followed by a factual correction from someone.

Which cities are you able to point to which substantiate your claim of lawlessness causing businesses to pack up and leave?

@Blackswanwood The first that’s widely published and extremely easy to check is New York where supermarket deserts are a real issue and state funding of circa $10 million has been initiated to try and help resolve the problem of people not having access to food. The deserts have been created by the major supermarkets pulling out primarily due to crime / shop lifting, they are not confined to NYC.

A quick google will pull up stories highlighting the issues from any of the major news networks. I can link, but if I do, the usual concern is that the political leaning of the media source incurs bias. So, I think suggesting taking a google of your own trusted news source will verify my perspective.

Probably not true.
But anyway crime / shop lifting is due, as ever, to poverty.
USA has a failed economy, which is mainly why Trump got voted in; any change sounds better than nothing. Similarly with Reform here.
Trump's promises are downright lies, just like Fartrage and co.
Harris failed because unable to propose radical changes (i.e. high tax, better wages, wealth distribution, health service) because she'd get labelled socialist. Vague promises of change are meaningless without flesh on them. Similarly with Labour here - though they got in be default with very low turnout.
Trump's purge of immigrants won't happen because USA depends on them for low paid work force, legal or not. Trump will still be able to continue weaponise them, gurning on about it and spreading the blame in all directions.
Similarly every failing under Trump will be weaponised against the media, the left, socialism, islam, immigrants...etc
The USA electorate might wake up at some point.

@Jacob I agree with most of what you say, I personally think that politics in both the USA and the UK has become far too polarised with both sides losing / lost credibility in the eyes of the electorate. Like the UK, the USA was faced with voting for the terrible or the awful. Not a lot to chose between them, and again like the UK I suspect Trumps ratings will mirror Stammer and be near rock bottom after the first 100 days.

So, perhaps you would do me the curtersey of actually highlighting anything you feel is incorrect

here are a few:
1) "Roe versus Wade was reversed by the Supreme Court, not a political party." is false
Supreme court is entirely political, Trump appionted 3 judges and he pushed for the reversal -and made a lot of noise after to say it was down to him

2) "real answer is that it has very little of anything to do with women’s rights in the broadest sense" is false
abortion has everything to do with womens rights

3) "Trump wanting to and actually building a wall in his first term" not true he didnt build a wall, he built a few bits thats all
"Trump’s administration built 52 miles of new primary border barriers" -so no he didnt build a wall

4) "States / cities that are now lawless with overwhelming crime levels" is false
"But the pandemic-era spike in crime actually seems to have subsided. The first three months of 2024 showed a historic decline in crime rates compared with the same period last year, according to the latest data from the FBI. Murder, for example, is down 26 percent, and robberies dropped 18 percent. Crime rates now look more like they did pre-Covid, steadily declining as they had been since the 1990s."

We can also talk about the economy if you like, the analysis most certainly does not concur that it is Trump good, Biden bad. In any case you do need to acknowledge as a starting point that Trump inherited a strong economy and Biden has steered America through covid and into the global post covid inflation.

the USA was faced with voting for the terrible or the awful. Not a lot to chose between them
the choice was between

1) narcissistic liar offering Project 2025

and this:

1) never allow a national abortion ban to become law. And when Congress passes a bill to restore reproductive freedom nationwide, she will sign it.

2) restoring two tax cuts designed to help middle class and working Americans: the Child Tax Credit and the Earned Income Tax Credit

3) first-time homebuyers with up to $25,000 to help with their down payments, with more generous support for first-generation homeowners

4) startup expense tax deduction for new businesses from $5,000 to $50,000

5) take on Big Pharma to lower drug prices and cap insulin costs, not just for seniors but for all Americans. And she’ll keep fighting to bring down prescription drug costs by taking on pharmacy middlemen

6) expanding and strengthening the Affordable Care Act and making permanent the Biden-Harris tax credit enhancements that are lowering health care premiums by an average of about $800 a year for millions of Americans.

7) extending the $35 cap on insulin and $2,000 cap on out-of-pocket spending for seniors to all Americans

8) protect Social Security and Medicare against relentless attacks from Donald Trump and his extreme allies. She will strengthen Social Security and Medicare for the long haul by making millionaires and billionaires pay their fair share in taxes

9) landmark pro-union legislation, including the PRO Act to support workers who choose to organize and bargain and the Public Service Freedom to Negotiate Act to make the freedom for public service workers to form unions the law of the land.

10) fight to raise the minimum wage, end sub-minimum wages for tipped workers and people with disabilities, establish paid family and medical leave, and eliminate taxes on tips for service and hospitality workers.

11) lower care costs for American families, including by expanding high-quality home care services for seniors and people with disabilities and ensuring hardworking families can afford high-quality child care

Deema which of the above 11 Democrat policies do you think are "not a lot to choose between them"?

Well when I Google New York supermarket closures the only story is about supermarket closures due to new rules on refrigeration chemicals.

What I think he mistakenly refers to is “food deserts” which have been around since the 90s at least.
Supermarkets have pulled out of poverty stricken areas like parts of the East Side in NYC and issues like obesity, diabetes etc have increased. What outlets remain that sell fresh food does little because so few can afford to buy fresh over ultra processed staples that dominate many American diets (UK’s too of course). The 10m mentioned is a scheme to help bring fresh food within reach of those living on the poverty line.
No doubt odd incident of violence has had an input but poverty is the main driver.

As far as I can tell crime in New York is down and now at historic lows. That’s murder, violent crime, robbery.

@RobinBHM
Wow, you certainly make a lot of points. First off, going back a few posts, the only political party in China is the Chinese Communist Party, so I think we can agree its definitely left wing and communist; equally the WPK is defined as a communist party, so again North Korea is definitely communist. Russia I said was left leaning.

The Supreme Court make judgements based on the law, that’s a very distinct difference. Laws are created through bills that have to be voted for by both houses of congress. So, the supreme court doesn’t make the law, it interprets how it’s applied in each circumstance. Roe versus Wade is interesting, I read up about it after the reversal ruling. Did you know that Norma McCorvey never had an abortion, and became a Pro life activist against abortion? Norma was the lady at the centre of the case that made it possible for abortions in all three trimesters of pregnancy.

Reading the Democrats views on why they lost, it would appear that their view is that they failed to engage with the American public to get their policies over and understood and they feel Trumps team did a far better job especially on social media. I wasn’t expressing my view, but the Democrats view of their own £1 billion campaign.

I try to provide a balanced view and linked media with stories that don’t just support my own perspective of what I’ve read. Open them all and also google and read wider to come to a conclusion. Many people reading and having different views if your open minded helps to change and form opinions. I’m delighted to be helped by others to improve my perspective; that’s the joy of debating and exchanging views with as many people as possible.

I’ve just skimmed through them and it doesn’t ring true to me.

Since our exchange of posts earlier I found the explanation of what is happening in New York. The money being spent is to give access to healthier food.

I’ve been to San Francisco, LA, San Diego, Las Vegas, Memphis, Nashville, New Orleans and umpteen places in between on holiday over the last 14 months. I’ve also been back to San Francisco and Philadelphia in connection with work I’m starting in January. That still leaves a lot of the US I have not been to but I have not seen anything that supports the view that the cities are lawless. The big cities undoubtedly have issues with homelessness and drug abuse in common with most big cities across the world.

The Palestinians, you mean the people who elected Hamas? You mean the people who actively support the Terrorists regime? The people who praised the invasion of Isreal?
The people in Palestine elected Hamas
The people in Germany elected Hitler
The people in the U.S. elected Trump.

Just because the majority elects someone as their president/leader, doesn't mean they're suited to lead. The population who votes for these "leaders" are of comprised of three types, the stupid, the ignorant and those easily duped. Unfortunately, they don't understand or acknowledge their mistake until it's too late and said leader is abusing the power you just handed to them.

Trump lies like most of us breathe, his many followers believe his lies for one of the reasons I mentioned. There will be people for generations, extolling the tales of Trump as a wonderful leader.
There is nothing you can say or do to change their minds, as he raises their taxes, takes away their rights, etc., etc.
This cabinet is basically nothing more than picking the absolute worst person to fill each position, then trying to force them through without confirmation, it's predictable and pathetic.
Musk, that wanna-be James Bond villain, will not be there long. Once it comes out that you can't make millions off of government contracts, at the same time you're running the department of efficiency (which does not exist yet).
It's all spectacle
