if you know how to do a search for files on your hard drives simply enter "bookmarks.*".
if you don't click the start button and go to "my computer" where it shows all drive installed and in the search bar enter "bookmarks.*"
I could tell you exactly where to look but it's long winded and requires some faff - hang on...

Alternatively do it manually but they are REALLY buried. If you installed Chrome to the default path they will be in (wait for it...) c:\users\ (your login name)\ appdata (to see which you will have to have the folder options set to "show hidden folders")\ local\ google \chrome \user data \default.
that's from another thread with the same problem
If you find the file, mouseover, r-click, select "open file location" it should take you to it.
make a backup and call it bookmarks.bak and put it somewhere safe - like a pendrive.
go back to where you found it and delete that file and re-insert the backup file and rename it - take the .bak off.
If that doesn't reset it - or it's as before then the file itself is damaged, in which case try the other method - alternatively you may be able to recover it by DL chrome to another computer and syncing your favorites to that new DL. - once done the bookmarks file will be a "master" saved from the main server, which might be a little bit old but at least you'll have most back - move that to a pendrive and re-insert as above.
