Well apart from my lovely SS present. Swmbo got me

DSC_0100.JPG

An Arbortech Industrial carver kit. Comes with a guard and fits to a mini grinder. I'm going to slip out into the workshop in the moment to see if it fits my grinder.

I have a new chuck for the lathe

Now I know that wood turners normally use a 4 jaw chuck, but the thread on the headstock of the lathe I have is 14mm*1mm and the only chucks I could find to fit were all 3 jaw.
I also have Woodturning a Foundation Course by Keith Rowley and Turning Pens and Pencils by Kip Christensen and Rex Burninham.
The wood burner is alight in the shop and I see a few spinney things happening this afternoon. The LOML has the Sony Ebook reader to keep her occupied so everyone is happy. \:D/

i got veritas mk2 sharpening jig and an offset housing base for a router. no pic soz

I got loads, will sort out some pics over next couple of days, but list includes:

- Various spare blades for my LV LA Block at different grind angles
- Various sized spare blades for my LV Plow
- Clifton burnisher
- Krenov books
- Charlesworth books and DVD
- Corner Chisel
- LV new style dovetail saw
- Jet air filter
- 63mm clear ducting kit
- 1 micron filter for Axy 2200 extractor
- DVD's
- Elvis chopping board
- New dressing gown
- Wii fit and balance board
- Beer! :D

And a few other things too. Will get some pics up of my awesome haul. I made a fuss of it being my last Christmas where people will get me gifts instead of the baby, and it worked

Cheers

Mark

Shame on all of those who have nor posted pics. It's the law around here, you know.

454 Page book on everything you need to know about every species of wood going, it says it's a hand book but more like an encyclopaedia :)
Two speed squares the large one has a multiple use adjustable fence.
A Lie Nielsen #9 Swmbo bought off ebay :)
A sailmakers palm glove repair kit.

nice haul nibbs. I have the N0.9 and it's a joy to use.

Love the look of those chisels Alan,
hope you've a good Japanese waterstone for em. Remember they are sharpened with only one angle, not two like western chisels

Are you left handed, Lord Nibbo?

Yes I am, but don't be misled by the pic. I prefer to have my left hand on the knob at the back and right hand on the knob on the side of the plane, so I would prefer to use it on a right handed shooting board. So is the pic set up for left handers or right handers? Being left handed I would say the pic shows it set up for a right hander or am I missing something?

Looking at your haul Nibbs I'd say you was about to embark on making a sail loft.

   The original idea of me building a double garage & large utility room was to store boaty stuff but somehow the car wouldn't fit

I would settle on building a woodstore but swmbo won't let me take over any of the garden :(

PS.. all the boaty stuff is in Swmbo's utility room

I know what you mean,
I do envy those who are able to reserve the third or forth acre for their out buildings.

Without wishing to drift this very seasonal thread waaaaaaaaay off topic...it depends on your sharpening regime. I had a set of Jap chisels years ago and always honed them with a conventional double bevel (ground and honed) and they worked fine for me  - Rob
