I know what you mean, the kids do come first. To be fair the most expensive item, the Veritas plane I won as a prize last month and put it away as an extra present. Things like the marking gauge I got out of a "make me an offer" bin at the Harrogate show for a tenner. The biscuit jointer and dowel kit were from my father and the cramps from my wife. The rest was shamefuly for myself totalling £126 which I justified by the feeling that because of the price of the pound against the dollar, pretty much anything improted from across the pond will be jumping up in price by quite a bit in the new year. As for the chisels, Matthew at Workshop Heaven kindly sent them out for me to try and as they're on sale and I'd picked up a couple of overtime shifts at work it seemed a shame to send them back. Anyway I had to work Christmas eve and Christmas day nightshifts this year so it wasn't all good. Just wish I could get more sleep given as a present.

That's what sets some retailers apart from others. The thing we've lost with this ere internet is that you can't pick up a tool and feel how it is in the hand.

Well done Matthew.

Hands down, you win Mark.

Tho, this has prompted something I was thinking today. Next year you're haul will be greatly reduced. Seriously. All the attention will be diverted to the little'n. My Dad used to spoil me rotten, right up til last xmas. This year my booty totalled less than £60 and then between my missus and all her sisters, I'd get a fair bit of gloat worthy toolage. This year I watched baby rip open present after present and I realised that I'd finally reached adulthood. I may have been a grumpy b'stard since my teens, but now I'm a Daddy and now it's my turn to do the spoiling.

Life.

We have trained our two away from the Rip-Next-Rip-Next mentality of present opening. Unfortunately as we had both sets of grandparents with us it took two whole days for the kids to open all of their presents. Plus our youngest has his birthday on Christmas Eve, so that was another day of presents ;)

Well, I didn't get any tools with which I could properly play with (I still have that 10% Axminster voucher sitting in my Inbox for that!) but I was happy to receive Jeremy Broun's Bespoke Revised Edition of The Incredible Router (book plus interactive CD-ROM). :)

Haven't put the CD in to my PC yet but I like the look of the book. Of course, there's a lot of "basic" information you would almost certainly find in any other book on "Routing". But, it's thanks to Jeremy Broun's own innovations and ideas that this one stands out for me (plus, it's nice to have a British author on this subject for a change - nothing against Bill Hylton, of course!! :D ).

Looks good Olly, is the whole book on the CD or what extras are on there?

I still haven't looked yet! No, it's not the whole book but there are several extras, including plans, projects, designs, links, that sort of thing. I'll let you know when I get around to seeing for myself...

Good evening,
Probably a bit late but I had holiday. Although it is not directly related to woodworking i hope it will help me. I got a software to talk to you because a draw image is worth thousand words. Here is the evidence...

Happy new year from France. Health and Wealth
