Thanks for those kind words Doug, the cheque's in the post!

Meanwhile, supply problems continue with this project and we're in a situation where if we make the kit available to stockists then demand would quickly outstrip supply (well we hope so anyway!) so we're still holding back from putting the kits out to stockists.
It's very annoying but we don't want to create a situation where we let our stockists down.

There is a very bright light at the end of the tunnel and an end to our woes is in sight, so watch this space. We should have a limited supply available to stockists in early January and full stock ready by early February. At last!

Just make sure you have some at the Ally Pally... :)

If we're still having problems by then Pete I think I'll just give up!

Meanwhile, it's hard to imagine but if anyone is really desperate to get their hands on one of these kits please drop me a pm.

Hi all

I have had one of the Chestnut buffing systems for a while as I included it in my DVD.

I do not get commission from Chestnut, and I only recommend products if I like them/they work.

The system is easy to use, easy to assemble and gives a good finish consistently. I have change over to this system having used it as I like the speed and ease by which I can change the mops.

I also found the compounds worked well.

I also used in conjunction with this a new Microcrystaline wax that chestnut are developing. It is under development at this time and should be available in the new year.

As you know I am a big fan of Renaissance wax which is a petroleum based wax.

The Chestnut microcrystaline wax is carnubba based ( I do not know what else is in it)

I was again asked to try it out. It is easy to apply and when buffed by the soft cotton buffing mop gave an excellent shine which with the piece being handled over the last 2-3 weeks has not degraded.

Again I am impressed with it and will be changing over as I understand it will be better value but at no loss of quality.

I too am impressed with the Microcrystalline wax, although different in consistency to other waxes I've used it does appear to resist handling well, water off a ducks back after several weeks on one example put under the tap, (no water marks which you get with beeswax based products) used sparingly a little seems to go a long way.
Not yet knowing the effects of mixing Hard friction wax with Soft wax I am keeping separate mops for each type.
So far I've only used it on closed texture woods, don't know if it's prone to 'white flecks' if excess is left in the pores of open dark woods.
The Microcrystalline of course can just be wiped on and buffed by hand, in my experience this gives a semi gloss, slick to the feel, finish.

Still early days for me but so far it seems like a worthwhile addition to the finish options.
