I don't think your saw trick will work with a square of mitres will it?

No I'm not a hand tool man at all. The Wood Whisperer calls it 'Hybrid Woodworking'. I call it using what ever you can to get the job done.

Should do. :) Might have a bit of sodding around to keep all the lengths correct. Start larger than you want to end up maybe. If you are into power tools a decent snip saw is a great tool to have. From what I have seen of the Kapex, it is very nice but overpriced, IMO. My Elu, now deWalt has been excellent, as is the weird looking Makita. Both about half the price of the Festool.

Yep I'm using an LN No.9. It's not the tool it's ME!!

I may try the Veritas tho.
Quite right not to blame the tool Wiz but you can get open mitres for a twentieth of the price you paid for that L N, and nice tight one's too. Cheers !

I bet you are not clamping the timber to your shooting board?

Thats the only way to win, especially mitres.

Might even need a stop block to maintain correct lengths for mitres.

I cut my rebates after mitres these days.

Up to a point, with a plain square section, as long as the two angles being joined form a 90 degree angle, then it's still a good mitre.

I.e. 44.5 degrees and 45.5 degrees, will form a 90 degree corner.

Obviously it won't work so well with complicated mouldings.
