Looking forwards to seeing that Rich!

The thing I find interesting is that these solutions require you to reach past the saw to use the router, whereas going at it from the other side is easier but you would have to use the tablesaw fence and not the Incra. I'm liking the dual use of the Incra, might make it worth buying one, just how wobbly are they? For instance, would you use one for ripping a 2" thick beech plank in half or go with the saw fence?

Has anyone built a full length fence for the TS200 that clamps tot he rear rail also or at least extends further? The current one is very tough for what it is but I'd like one a bit longer that isn't just a piece of wood clamped to the existing fence. I suppose with the Incra fence you could ditch the front and back rails or use them to lock the Incra fence down for bigger jobs?

Aidan

If I'm reading this the way I think I'm reading it, the router fence is also used as full length fence for the saw? If so then that's a big 'nil points' for me...kickback! A short fence is far more desirable for a saw - Rob

yebbut you can still fix a short fence to the long fence?

I think this is a bad idea.

The Incra fence is a router fence, not a saw fence. Unless you are securing it front and bad to stop any flex then your in for a sore one.
Incra do make a saw fence that is very securely mounted and locks down at each end.

BTW: I have an Incra fence and a TS200 saw mounted side by side in a portable unit similar to what you are planning.
I went for the Axminster upgrade fence for use on the saw, it is very good but a little short.

Hadn't thought of that  would probably work...bit of a faff though every time you want to cut somat on the saw - Rob

That would be my preferred solution, it gives the best of both worlds, and a small sub-fence would only take a few seconds to attach.

Evening Byron, as promised, some pics, this is my home made panel cutting jig.

As you can see from the underside of the jig, there is a second runner that fits very snugly in the sliding carriage slot, this ensures a VERY accurate cut, I have also fitted a backstop to the rear of the carriage so that as I move the workpiece through the blade the carriage moves with it giving more support.

Mitre guage, in the left slot is 43mm from the blade, in the right slot it is 28mm.

A good shot of the sliding carriage fence, once set up is very accurate.
the max for the table fence is 710mm to the right of the blade, and with my jig I can get 620mm in front of the blade, hth.

Regards,

Rich.

Hi Rich,

I really like that panel cutting Jig, Think I'll build one for my TS200.

Just wondering what blade u've got in there, I'm on the hunt for a new one.

Cheers

It's really helped me Rich, much better than the crappy photos you get in the "manual" I got the table together, it was the guide that foxed me.

Thanks

Phil

PS Any tips on how to get the bow out of the middle of the RH table?

Phil - could you 'panel beat' the top onto a flat piece of mdf to get the bow out?

Rich - thanks for posting the imags, much appreciated. You've confirmed the exact questions I had, so looks like I might be in the market for a TS-200, if my Triton goes..

Don't want to go there BB, probably make it 10x worse  I'll have to look at it tomorrow on my day off. I'm really peed off that I haven't got enough room for the sliding carriage. I'll post some pictures tomorrow and get a general consensus from other members on whether I should put up with the cramped space.

Phil

Phil,

If this is a new saw and the table is bowed then I think a call to the supplier is in order, not fit for purpose comes to mind?

Dave, I've just took the the part off the saw and there is a definite bow in it , you can actually press the table in and there is twang as it goes back to the original shape  . It is pressed steel so I'm going to call APTC now.

Phil

I've updated my thread on the buying forum

Hi Phil,

I bought the TS200 a couple of months ago. My RH table is also bowed, its far to say that it is pretty poor quailty compared to the rest of the saw.

I'm just living with it until I replace it with a router table, like some others have done on here.

Have you looked at replacement fences yet? I think the existing one is a bit short. I've not found a suitable replacement yet.

Hope your planning on making something nice with your new saw. No excuses now :D

Cheers
G

Mine was missing a couple of bits and one of the castings was drilled too deep but besides that it's great value for money, I'm also building a router table into mine so let's all swap pictures at the end!

Aidan

I'm sure someone mentioned that the Fox version from Rutlands came with a full-length fence... Well, I've just looked on their site and it appears to be short, like the Axminster and Charnwood models.

However, the Kity saw does come with a full-length fence - perhaps it's worth contacting them for a price? This is the saw these other 'clones' are based on, therefore, it should probably fit...

Man, theres some diffence in price from the Kity and TS200!!

I'm well pleased I got mine before Axminster put there prices up. :D

I've just emailed Kity to see if they sell the fence on its own.

Cheers OPJ

First of all, a thankyou to ByronBlack for posting my photo's. The incra fence is a massive improvement on the original fence, in my view. It wasn't bought with that use in mind, but for a separate router table. I've only cut panels on the saw yet so have found the longer fence better. I guess if I wanted a short fence I would probably take one of the split fence's off and I'll end up with a short fence. A good thing with the incra is that you can zero it at any point, the bad thing is that it is in inch's but I can live with that

I think they do metric tapes for it? I know I couldn't live with inches.

G, I've mentioned on my thread that APTC are going to send a replacement table ASAP. They don't want the duff one back so I'm thinking of covering part of my workbench with it where I'm going to put my engineers vice

I'm thinking of Extending the fence with wood, I reckon I could lose an inch off the width to save me £££. I've got American Ash at the mo, would this be hard enough, any other suggestions?

I've got a Wolfcraft router table which is adequate for my limited skills :D

Cheers

Phil

Ash should be fine I woudl have thought, I've got two large boards of the stuff and it's pretty tough stuff, I use it for all sorts of things and have never thought it wasnt hard/strong enough. I made a bandsaw fence out of it and it worked fine.
