Anybody have a Magnetic drill that they would recommend

Some are single speed like the attached: and it says min imum steel thickness is 10 mm
others are allegedly variable such as this

Thanks, any thoughts on the minimum thickness, I suppose the annular bits need something solid to bit into

Not used one for over 40 years. Was the one we had at work a Wolf? Can't remember.
I imagine it's more to do with the thickness needed for the magnet to successfully stick to.

The minimum thickness has nothing to do with the bits. The magnet needs a certain minimum thickness in order that it grip hard enough to resist the drilling pressure.
