Sorry Niall not correct, Velux will guarantee their product, just not the installation, mine has been in over thirty years so any guarantee has run out I think, converted to sola electric opening and closing three years ago, shows how long Velux expect their products to last as the fittings where all available.

I have a dispute with them presently,if it's installed by firms not recommended by them they will void the warranty!

There are some very incorrect assumption made on guarantees and insurance that keep cropping up on various forums, in a previous life I worked with the Insurance Ombudsman and can verify that your insurance is a contract between you and the insurer, this contract can not be rescinded or cancelled unless the insured has made a false claim or did not disclose all the relevant facts on the application for insurance, the insurance company have taken on the risk by accepting the first payment.

Guarantees or Warranties are against manufacturing defects and have nothing to do with the installation of the product.
