    Mains filters aaarrrrgggghh!!!!

You did well, I had rooms of machines at college like that. At work, in our last building we had a floor were if the mains died we had to raise a call, the breakers were in a locked cabinet. We were 24*7 back then, the site guys did not like turning out at 2:30 on a Sunday morning.

    Thicknesser tripping fuse

Blister is correct here, you need a 'C' type trip. The current you have worked out is the steady state run current, the start up surge can be 3 or 4 times that, for a short time. The 'C' rated trip will allow the surge to pass without tripping but still provide protection for an overload.

One way is to put it into thicknessing mode, insert 2 long bits of 4x2 (or bigger) though the machine and wind the table up so it clamps on them. Then support one end of them and lift the other, still not easy but with a little bit of ingenuity it is doable and should not strain any part of the...

    Holding templates

It's not a silly question! I have used double sided tape, don't leave it in place longer than necessary, take care removing it. If the template is home made then leave it over length to allow the thing to be clamped down. I have done some stuff where I routed one part and then added clamps to...
