    Curved tv cabinet design question

Hi, I am making a curved retro tv cabinet and cannot decide whether to mount the curved feet on the front of the unit or to the side ? I have uploaded a few pictures and would appreciate some feedback. The unit is going to be sprayed gloss white with doors veneered in eucalyptus. Thanks...

    Inconsiderate neighbours. Arghhhhhh!

Oh dear. It all came to a head tonight. The neighbour confronted my 9 year old Daughter and told her off for spraying the cat. That was like a red rag to a bull with the Wife and she told them, "keep the cat out of the garden and it won't get wet" What is really sad is that even after a long...

    No 4 plane blade angle?

If only I had read these posts before I took my trip to Axminster. I purchased a £10 Stanley blade! I will have a look at the QS blades. Thanks for all of the tips.

    No 4 plane blade angle?

Thanks for the detailed response. I think I will buy a new blade as the old one is rather pitted and I think this was why it became serated after sharpening. With regards to plane blades will a £10 Stanley blade be ok, or is it worth spending £40. I don't use the blade often and was...

    Inconsiderate neighbours. Arghhhhhh!

If I had a dog I would take it around into the neighbours garden and let it do a big sh!t on their lawn whilst they were sitting in the garden. Could you imagine their faces, when you say "just letting my dog use your garden as a toilet like your cat does in ours"! I just don't have the bottle...

    No 4 plane blade angle?

Hi, I have just cleaned up my number 4 plane and decided to sharpen the blade. I used my trend sharpening system and ground a 30 degree and then a 25 degree like a chisel. I suspect this is wrong and would appreciate any pointers. Also, the blade end was rusty and having sharpened it, it has...

    router extraction

Why do so many router manufactures put the extraction unit onto the top of the router base up by the router spindle, when it makes more sense for it to go under the parallel side fence. Or better still provide both options. The only manufacturer I see who does this is festool. Would be nise...

    Inconsiderate neighbours. Arghhhhhh!

My Neighbour was until recently a good friend of mine until him and his partner decided to buy a cat which has taken to spending more time in our garden than theirs. Not only do I not want their pet in my garden, but I take offence to having to clean it's sh!t up. We have raised the issue, but...

Which sharpening system for my chisels. Budget = £150

I was looking at the sorry state of my chisels yeserday and realised that I could do much better. Being a lazy git, I was hoping that I could get a sharpening system to restore them and keep them sharp. Anyone able to recommend the best one for the money ? Thanks

    Table Saw Fence Position Confusion

I asked a similar question some time ago and was told that when ripping timber you don't want the fence being too far past the front part of the blade. This is because when you cut timber you are releasing stresses and it can then end up gripping the back of the blade. I suspect for mdf and...

The one too caught my eye, but it looks like it is only available in the US. Did you find anything similar in the UK ? Thanks

    Suitable paint for childs toys

That sounds like a lot of hassle. My plan was to make a few items and sell them on ebay, but I think I will pass on the idea. Thanks

    Suitable paint for childs toys

The toys I am making are only suitable for children 5+ years. So they will not be chewed. You have raised a valid point. I will speak with Morells.

    Suitable paint for childs toys

I am making some childrens toys and I want to spray them, but am unsure what paint to use. I have a tub of Morell's water based pigmented lacquer, can I use that, or do I need special paint. If so, anyone know a good supplier ? Thanks

Urea glue spreading is a nightmare. Any pointers ?

I actually had much better results spreading the glue with a spreader that I use for fibreglassing. Much easier than using the foam roller.

Urea glue spreading is a nightmare. Any pointers ?

Thanks. As I cannot get a solid roller today, I am going to spread the adhesive over the panel first and then roller it. That should make it a lot easier. A solid roller is on the cards though.

Urea glue spreading is a nightmare. Any pointers ?

I had 5 panels measuring 500 * 1200mm that I had to laminate and get into the vacuum bag before the glue went off. I mixed the glue at the correct ratio of 5:1. The glue has a real thick consistency and I found it really hard to spread using a foam roller. Just wondering whether there is an...
